Violence is not gendered.

Both women and men can be victims, and both can be perpetrators. Yet in many systems, men are still primarily labelled as the aggressor and women as the survivor.

This imbalance has real consequences:

• Men often have limited or no access to support services
• Their experiences are under‑recognised and under‑reported
• Many feel isolated, misrepresented, and unsupported in relationship matters.

When society frames violence as a gendered issue, it deepens division instead of solving the problem. It leaves some victims unseen and some perpetrators unaccountable.

If we want better outcomes, we must be willing to rethink the way we approach these issues.

A different result requires a different approach.

Still MEN are UNDER represented in this field yet very much victims..

MEN need to be very alert to these labels as 99% of the time theyre victims who dont see it for what it is but a female will use all those labels in one sentence..🤷‍♀️

"That’s not what happened. You’re overreacting. You’re crazy. I would never do that. It was just a joke. You’re so forgetful. Everyone agrees with me. You’re being paranoid."

These are the classic catchphrases of a gaslighter.

Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse designed to make you question your reality, memory and feelings. It breaks down your trust in yourself, causing confusion and self-doubt. It is a sign of coercive control.

Over time, it can damage your self-esteem and create a dangerous power imbalance in relationships. You feel like can’t trust yourself, and you need to rely on them instead. Abusers gaslight so that they can gain (and retain) control of a relationship.

Possible signs that you are experiecing gaslighting could include:
🚫 you constantly second-guess yourself
🚫 you ask yourself, ‘Am I too sensitive?’ multiple times
🚫 you often feel confused
🚫 you’re always apologising to your partner.

Gaslighting is an abusive behaviour and can be a sign of more frequent and worsening abuse to come.

If you or someone you know is experiencing gaslighting, support is available. Find out more about coercive control and how to access help: www.qld.gov.au/coercivecontrol

Why don't we have an Office for Men?

We already have an Office for Women, as we should, but why not men?

In Australia men make up 77% of suicides.
They're 95% of workplace deaths.
They only have primary care of their children around 10% after seperations.
They are 92% of the prison population.
Boys under 18 are three times more likely to be on ADHD medication...and Australian boys make up only 38% of students starting univerities.

Society, families, women, children would all do better with better men.
Men can do so much better and are clearly in need of support too.
There are so many benefits to having good, moral men.

Penny Wong doesn't seem to see the need for an Office for Men.
Labor's solution is an Envoy for Men's Health.

These issues are bigger than that.

I don't understand why there wouldn't be an Office for Men.

Men deserve the same rights and more men have taken their own lives than the 6 women and most due to DFV or not getting any assistance at all..
They deserve protection, they deserve to be taken seriously and they deserve to hear more than they need to change their behaviour when women can, do and will entrap men under the DV Banner/Label to get special help and attention or to get everything faster than any queue they will need to join by leaving a relationship...
Women also need to change their behaviours so theyre not antagonistic and dont commit DV themselves before reacting and crying thats DV..
DV is not always seen by others but a woman will certainly tell others all about the apparent DV she has been a victim of..

The courts need to be tougher on all DFV perpetrators!

A recidivist Gold Coast DV offender has been sentenced for assaulting a man in a McDonalds’ carpark, including by wrapping a seatbelt around his neck, before sending him a series of “nasty and vicious” texts.
