WHAT A WEEK FOR VOICE FOR VICTIMS!

On Wednesday, National Victims of Crime Day, our First 56 took on Brisbane’s Story Bridge for the inaugural Climb Against Crime — standing with victims, growing awareness and raising vital funds to help us support people affected by crime.

And what a result — $29,555 raised and counting! We’ve sailed past our original $25,000 target and are now within reach of $30,000. 💛

A huge thank you to every climber in the First 56 as well as everyone who donated to support them. Thank you also to Story Bridge Adventure Climb, 4BC Brisbane who broadcasted live from base camp on the day, The Mews at Crystalbrook Vincent, our Principal Partner Crimsafe and VFV Ambassador Sofie Formica for helping make the morning so special.

Seeing the Story Bridge and other Brisbane landmarks lit yellow for National Victims of Crime Day was the perfect way to finish an incredible day.

There was plenty of political point-scoring at yesterday’s hearing, alongside legal arguments focused heavily on the rights of offenders.

Voice for Victims was there to make sure the rights, safety and experiences of victims were equally heard — and to advocate for a system that seeks to prevent further victimisation.

When will politics be put aside and Queensland’s political and legal minds work together towards a justice system that gives proper weight to victims’ rights, community safety and preventing future victims?

Victims deserve more than a voice in the debate. They deserve to be at the centre of it.

It was a day full of energy, connection, courage and, most importantly, community. 💛

For every person who climbed, donated, volunteered, shared a post, cheered from the sidelines or helped shine a light on the experience of victims ✨thank you✨

Today was a reminder that victims matter.

Their experiences matter.
Their voices matter.
Their recovery matters.
And they deserve to be seen, heard and supported.

And Brisbane is continuing to shine that light! 💛

Tonight, Brisbane will shine yellow in support of victims of crime and their families. 💛

The Story Bridge and Kangaroo Point Bridge will light up to for National Victims of Crime Day, recognising those whose lives have been forever changed by crime.

It’s also an opportunity to acknowledge the important work of organisations like Voice for Victims Foundation in supporting victims, advocating for change and ensuring their voices are heard.

More than $70,000 raised at our TGIF Brisbane Lunch!

A little rain certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits at The Officers Mess on Friday, as we came together in the lead-up to National Victims of Crime Day (this Wednesday 16 September).

One of the highlights was the honest and inspiring conversation between Voice for Victims Co-Founder and Chair Ben Cannon and Lee Lovell . By sharing their experiences and speaking about what happens after a serious crime, they helped demonstrate exactly why practical assistance and guidance for victims is so important.

A huge thank you to our wonderful Ambassador and MC, Sofie Formica, who guided us through the afternoon with her trademark warmth and professionalism—and to Tuffy for keeping everyone entertained.

We are incredibly grateful to our Voice for Victims Principal Partner, Crimsafe; Founding Partner, Tangalooma Island Resort; and event partners Moreton Bay Ford, Australian Money Market and Gowdie Management Group.

Thank you also to everyone who donated auction items and raffle prizes, placed a bid, bought tickets or made a donation; to our hardworking volunteers; and to every person who joined us on the day.

Together, you helped us raise more than $70,000 to continue providing practical assistance and guidance to people affected by crime across Queensland. An amazing result 🙏💛

On Wednesday, the 16th of September, 4BC will join the Voice for Victims Foundation for a "Climb Against Crime" - A vital fundraiser to help support people impacted by crime.

Jason Matthews on 4BC Breakfast and Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Mornings will broadcast their shows LIVE from the Story Bridge Adventure Climb, cheering on Carla Bignasca from 4BC Drive as she scales the bridge with some of Brisbane's business and community leaders.
