40% of our Queensland schools in 2025 were ranked below 1000 ICSEA*, making this grant the perfect opportunity for, particularly our regional schools to attend the National events in 2026.

This grant can be used for travel and equipment costs to attend the Nationals, and we know many schools have been successful in the past. The great thing about Nationals? You don't need to qualify at States to attend - so you can apply now!

Any questions, please reach out to us at [email protected] - we would love to assist, particularly if you're brand new to RoboCup!

*participated in events since 2020

Calling schools and other eligible organisations, Sponsorship Grants for Student Science Engagement and International Competitions 2026 are now open! 📣

There are changes to the 2026 program guidelines to better support students from socio-educational disadvantaged schools.

These grants help students under 18 take part in exciting STEM activities to help more young Australians have access to hands-on STEM experiences.

Find out what’s changed and how to apply 👉🏾 http://spklr.io/6185EHvGN

This supports the department’s priority to boost STEM participation and build Australia’s future STEM workforce. The Inspiring Australia program supports this grant.

Applications close 8 April.

1 in 3 RoboCup Junior Queensland competitors are girls.

This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the incredible students, teachers, and mentors helping grow robotics across Queensland.

Since 2023, RoboCup Junior Queensland has more than doubled in size, growing from just over 1,000 students to more than 2,200 participants in 2025.

Even more exciting is the growth in girls participating in robotics. Over the past two years, the number of female competitors has doubled, while maintaining a 30% female participation rate in Queensland.

This participation is happening across the entire state, not just in major cities. Regional events in places like Gladstone, Bundaberg, Mackay, Darling Downs, and Central Queensland regularly see 35–47% female participation, with several competitions approaching gender parity.

We are also incredibly proud that Queensland Co-Chair Margaux Edwards was awarded the Silvia Coradeschi RoboCup Federation Award (https://robocup.org/silvia_coradeschi), an international honour recognising young female researchers contributing to robotics and the RoboCup community.

This recognition reflects not only Margaux’s work internationally, but also the ongoing effort to support students, teachers, and robotics communities across Queensland.

Today we celebrate the incredible girls, mentors, teachers, and volunteers helping shape the future of robotics in Queensland. 🚀
