Meet the panel! Introducing the wonderful AISYA - let's see what she has to say 👀

"Aisya Zaharin is a PhD researcher and works across the fields of political science, history and decolonisation to LGBTQI+ & Islam. As a trans-Muslim woman, Aysha refuses to allow her identity to be used as a pretext for the continued carnage in Israel's pathetic pinkwashing propaganda. For her, It's absurd to think that q***r and trans liberation should come from a campaign of bombings on defenceless civilians.

She is well aware that the persecution of Palestinians by Israel, an apartheid ethno-religious state, predates October 7th and has continued for more than 75 years.

Having been raised in a colonised nation herself, she saw the British employing the same dehumanising terminology to characterise any opposition group as savages and pengganas (terrorists) to maintain their colonial authority. It takes the same words to defend the invasion and the acts of brutality against the Palestinian people.

She wants you to know that not a single gay Palestinian living in Gaza has been freed by Israel's indiscriminate bombing onslaught. LGBTQIA people in Gaza are currently in danger of dying from Israeli bombings, if they haven't already; as a result of collective punishment that violates Article 33 of the Geneva Convention."

We can't wait to hear more from her! Come by Jagera Hall at 3 pm on 29 June for My Panel will be Intersectional or it will be Bull$ #*t!

Magandjin, we have a very special guest joining us at Jagera Hall, 29 June, to fundraise for q***r refugees alongside .peoples.pride! Allow us to introduce the beautiful Chelle!

Chelle has written, studied and performed in the heart of Meanjin/Brisbane for the past twelve years. Her performances offer a fusion of vibrant melodies, shaped by the sounds of jazz, R&B, gospel and soul. Her natural flair captures a live audience and tells stories of endurance, pride, grief and love. Chelle’s performances are vulnerable and truthful; exulting the simple and bittersweet joys that may be shared in living.

We're so excited to have Chelle join us in a day of food, games, music, art, and more! Come by between 2 to 5 pm and join us in celebrating pride and solidarity!
