A legacy on the road 🤍

On 10 November 1979, Ballet Theatre Queensland arrived in Maryborough with Les Sylphides and The Nutcracker, performing at Maryborough City Hall.

Artistic Director Phyllis Danaher MBE led the tour, assisted by Carmel Nolan and Wendy Lowe, with Wendy also serving as Ballet Mistress.

As Sophia prepares for her 10th production with Ballet Theatre Queensland, she reflects on the people, experiences, and opportunities that have shaped her journey so far.

Now training as part of first full-time cohort, Sophia continues to challenge herself both technically and artistically while embracing the chance to revisit the role of the Evil Queen.

Eighteen months after its world premiere, Snow White is preparing to return to the stage this July.

✨Meet Erica ✨

This season marks Erica's first season with BTQ, and she is currently training full-time at Ballet Theatre Queensland Training

Inspired by a teacher who helped shape both her dancing and her life beyond the studio, Erica is focused on continual growth, strengthening her alignment, and building consistency in her training.

She loves the creative energy of the rehearsal room, where dancers come together to learn, refine choreography, and share the stage as a company.

Ballet Theatre Queensland is delighted to welcome two outstanding school choirs to Snow White this season.

For our Gold Coast performances from 2–5 July, selected vocalists from the St Rita’s College Choral Program will join the production. These talented students, drawn from the College’s Junior and Senior Advanced Vocal Ensembles, are excited to gain valuable experience in the professional performing arts industry while bringing their voices to this enchanting ballet.

For our Brisbane performances from 9–12 July, we are thrilled to welcome Bel Canto, Hillcrest Christian College’s award-winning touring choir. Part of the College’s renowned Choral Excellence Program, Bel Canto is recognised for its commitment to artistic excellence, collaboration, and performance opportunities both across Australia and internationally.

We are proud to showcase these exceptional young singers as they help bring the magic of Snow White to life for audiences across South East Queensland.
