Dear all,
It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of IESL QLD Chapter Past President, Eng. Asoka Tittagala. He was the Inaugural Editor, who immensely contributed to the growth of the chapter since its inception. His dedication and vision have left a lasting impact on the engineering community.

The funeral ceremony will take place at Albany Creek Memorial Park (Lakeview Chapel), 400, Albany Creek Road, Bridgemen Downs, QLD 4035 on Saturday, 10 th January 2026 at 2:00 pm.

IESL QLD Chapter 2026 president Jayanath Perera provided Australian perspective to flood event Disaster Management with Flood Risk Management principles on Sri Lankan national television following Cyclone Ditwa. Queensland and wider Australian flood risk management engineers are being rallied to work alongside Sri Lankan government engineers as part of the Rebuild Sri Lanka program.
