TownFires was born in 2015 out of a desire to bring quality music acts to the parts of rural Australia that aren't usually a part of the traditional touring circuit. In February/March 2016, that vision became a reality when 10 talented musicians embarked on a 6-week tour, beginning in Miles, and ending in Wondai, SE Queensland. They played in schools, community centers, youth groups, pubs, churche
s, cafes, and even a FoodWorks store(!)
We are excited to announce that TownFires 2017 is now in the planning stages! If you are interested in having TownFires come to your town, school/venue, please get in touch. While we will play some warm up shows in larger towns, including the Gold Coast and Brisbane, Townfires exists for small towns in rural areas. The communities we travel to each face challenges unique to country areas. Domestic violence, drug addiction, alcoholism and su***de are impacting families and communities all over Australia. The goal of every TownFires tour is to bring a smile, and a dose of joy and inspiration to everyone we can, using the beautiful gift of music. We aim not to just play and float on… but to truly connect with every group we play to, and engage with every audience member that wants to, after the show. Q & A:
Where have you visited in the past? The TownFires 2016 tour travelled to Miles, Chinchilla, Roma, Gatton, Beaudesert, Stanthorpe, Cherbourg and Wondai. Where are you traveling in 2017? TownFires 2017 is still in the planning stages at the moment. We hope to return to all the towns we visited in 2016, and more. I heard you guys perform at my school/pub last year. Will you be coming back? Keep in mind that the artists that perform with each TownFires tour can vary. But the answer is, hopefully! Please talk with your publican/chaplain/teacher about having us back. Encourage them to either contact us right here on Facebook, or by emailing [email protected]. What type of venues will you be performing at? Anywhere and everywhere, but with a focus on public venues. How much will it cost to have TownFires come to my school/venue? We are bringing professional musicians on the road, and there costs involved :-). Costs for each event are negotiated, on a case by case basis. Please contact us here (on this page), or email us at [email protected]. Remember, your support for TownFires means that we are able to visit places that otherwise might not be able to afford it. How can I support TownFires? TownFires is a “not-for-profit” organisation, and obviously we have costs to cover. We are deeply appreciative of all donations, and every cent given goes to getting, and keeping musicians on the road, in rural communities. We are currently looking for a commercial sponsor for 2017s tour. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you! Will Emily Baran be performing this year with TownFires? Sadly, our headliner for will not be joining us in 2017, as she’s now moved back home to Canada. Make sure you follow her on her musical journey on Instagram () and on Facebook (www.facebook.com/emilyannebaran)!
