Ted Warren Trophy out, mic out — you know what’s coming ✅. Big thanks to last night’s presenters, Anne Pappalardo, Joy Melchiori and Elizabeth Riley, for showing us how a great idea becomes a photo book audiovisual. Great stories, great storytellers, no notes.

QCG is sitting on a goldmine of experience and we are here for it.

Leanne Sinclair’s ‘Autumn in Cradle Mountain’ was in the judge’s top 4 for the Travel category in QCG’s recent photo book competition. The judges enjoyed the book’s visual journey from Autumnal landscapes through to the detail of Tasmania’s foliage as it turned golden ☺️.

Amazing result for Wendy Klein Photography who was our judge for the set subject of Minimalism in April earlier this year. There is certainly nothing minimalist about this beautiful image! Well done Wendy.

What an honour to win the postcard section I entered in the Brisbane Lord Mayors competition! There was over 2,200 entries!
For winning I received prize money!
My image is printed on postcards for people to purchase and I get 10% of sales
My image will be displayed at both the Qantas and Virgin ends in the Brisbane domestic airport
My image will be displayed in the Brisbane Square Foyer and Brisbane Museum
I am so excited to share this news with you all 😀📸

Third place in the open category of QCG’s 2026 Photo Book Competition is Heleen Daniels’ (Twiggy) handmade book, ‘Tree Rustle’. In complete contrast to Jane’s sizeable book, this little piece would fit in your pocket! 

Our judges commented, ‘A beautiful bespoke, handmade art book. The cover treatment of linen, bark and leaves, with hand-lettered title feels authentic and sensitive. Construction of the book with inter-leaved transparent pages adds polish to the presentation. The idea pairing each tree image of with a haiku-like six-word story is inspired, infusing the whole project with a sense of artistic structure, poetic and satistying. Photography is fit for purpose, the words chosen to read meaning into each image.’ Enjoy.

With only a point to separate the placings, Jane McMenamin Photography’s ‘Tiny Matters’ was awarded second in the Open category.

Jane’s book did however win People’s Choice. This is a particularly special award as it is voted on by attendees and reflects the work that most strongly resonates with our fellow photographers, often making it as meaningful as any judged placing. Our thanks to Cr Greg Adermann, Pullenvale Ward, who sponsored the award with a $100 cash prize.

About Jane’s book, the judges wrote ‘This book is masterful not only in imagery but in its so considered use of the blank page to allow certain images to sit as an individual piece of art and others to complement each other. The transition pages neatly close off each section and drop a hint of the next. It is restrained, gives space for reflection, and its size beautifully gives weight to the tiny stars in contrast to their stature.’ Enjoy.

Continuing our series of award winners at QCG‘s 2026 Photo Book Competition. Chris Pigott’s ‘Lightfall’, which took out first place in the Open category, was described by judges as, ‘Exquisite on every level from cover to cover. A wonderful collection of black and white street photography. Image quality is excellent throughout, while maintaining the spontaneity and energy that characterises great street photography. The book succeeds in its stated intention of highlighting the interplay between light and shadow.’ The club would like to thank Album Works for sponsoring this category. Chris Pigott wins a $100 Album Works voucher. Enjoy.

Last but certainly absolutely not least, third place in QCG’s Biennial Photo Book Competition.

Jane Clout’s superb ‘Hola Mohalla’ is a bespoke handmade piece of literal art, showcasing Jane’s elevated signature street photography.

The judge commented that this was a beautifully presented view of a specific event with images that were vibrant, showcasing the people customs and details of the event.’ Enjoy.
