Volunteers & Suspects

Meet the faces behind the mystery.

Huge thanks to our brilliant volunteers who brought our Cluedo-inspired welcome event to life โ€” from organisers Twiggy and Judy, to our unforgettable characters Professor Plum, Mrs White, Miss Scarlett and Colonel Mustard.

Every great mystery needs a cast you almost trust.
Almost.

The murderer has not been revealedโ€ฆ yet. ๐Ÿ”

A very big THANK YOU to Tedโ€™s Camera Store โ€“ Adelaide Street, Brisbane and Instax for generously supplying two Instax Mini 12s for our upcoming QCG Murder Mystery Welcome Event ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ“ธ

What will they be used for?

Evidence?
Alibis?
Dramatic last-seen portraits?
Questionable fashion choices?

Honestlyโ€ฆ even weโ€™re not quite sure yet ๐Ÿ˜„

What we do know is that instant cameras + photographers + a murder mystery = absolute chaos in the best possible way.

Thank you for helping us add a little analogue magic, a lot of laughs, and possibly some very incriminating Polaroids to the night ๐Ÿ’ฅ

๐Ÿ† QCG Special Award | Spirit Award ๐Ÿ†

The Spirit Award recognises a member whose generosity, energy and commitment embody the very heart of QCG. It is awarded annually and, by tradition, cannot be presented to a current committee member.

๐Ÿ“ธ Tony FitzGerald
Recipient of the QCG Spirit Award, in recognition of his enthusiastic advocacy of the club, his unfailing support at special events, and his leadership behind the scenes.

Tony has hosted and coordinated countless Focus Group meetings, played a lead role in the From Vision to Voice exhibition, and served as lead photographer at virtually every QCG event.

Fittingly, Tony was also the initiator of the Spirit Award itself, many years ago โ€” making this recognition especially meaningful. Having stepped off the committee this year, the timing could not have been more perfect.

Congratulations, Tony โ€” and thank you for the energy, generosity and spirit you bring to QCG. This award is richly deserved ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ† QCG Exhibition Awards | From Vision to Voice: The Photographerโ€™s Journey ๐Ÿ†

As part of our recent exhibition, these awards celebrated images that resonated strongly with both judges and viewers โ€” visually, emotionally and conceptually.

๐Ÿ“ธ Kate Coote (second from left)
First Place, and recipient of the Roger Bartlett Trophy, for The Journey. A powerful and fitting image that beautifully embodied the exhibition theme and captured the judgesโ€™ attention.

๐Ÿ“ธ Hamid Rahnama (with Ella, of course!)
Second Place for Autumn on Her Lips โ€” a striking and evocative photograph that drew viewers in with its mood and subtle storytelling.

๐Ÿ“ธ Anne Pappalardo
Winner of the Peopleโ€™s Choice Award for Anticipation. A clear favourite with exhibition visitors, reflecting the strong connection this image made with its audience.

Congratulations to Kate, Hamid and Anne โ€” and to all exhibitors who shared their work and stories as part of From Vision to Voice: The Photographerโ€™s Journey ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ† QCG Annual Dinner and Year-End Awards | Grade Upgrades ๐Ÿ†

Grade upgrades recognise photographers whose consistent results, growing confidence and demonstrated skill show they are ready for the next level.

๐Ÿ“ธ Leanne Sinclair (right)
Upgraded from B Grade to AB Grade after an outstanding year of competition success. Leanneโ€™s results across both Print and Digital clearly warranted her elevation.

๐Ÿ“ธ Mei Dymock (middle)
Also upgraded from B Grade to AB Grade, following a year of wonderful achievements and strong, consistent work that stood out in her grade.

๐Ÿ“ธ Kate Coote
Upgraded from AB Grade to A Grade, reflecting a year of excellent results and work that demonstrated talent and capability at A Grade standard.

Not pictured:
๐Ÿ“ธ Chayvis Zhang, who was also upgraded from AB Grade to A Grade โ€” congratulations on this well-deserved progression.

Congratulations to all our upgraded members โ€” a significant milestone that recognises both achievement and artistic growth ๐Ÿ‘

Welcome to QCG

Formed in 1956, Queensland Camera Group is a social community for those interested in all aspects of photography. Each year we host competitions, photoshoot outings, workshops and demonstrations. General club meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of each month at Bardon Hall, and are a great opportunity to get together for a light bite and updates on the latest news and events happening within the group.
