😇 He’s crate‑trained, travels beautifully, loves beach trips, enrichment games, and cuddles on the couch. Louie is smart, eager to learn, and already knows lots of commands — he’s a fantastic young dog with so much potential.

🐾 Now Seeking 2 Special Homes for 2 Special Boys 🐾

🏠 After discussions with Ollie & Oscar’s late owner’s daughter, and thoughtful consideration of their individual needs, we’ve decided the kindest path forward is to place the boys separately. 💙 They love each other, but their personalities and medical needs mean they will thrive best with individual attention and care. 💙

This way allows each dog to settle into a home where their unique requirements can be comfortably supported and removes the burden from one family. 💕

❤️ Meet Ollie — 9 years

Ollie is our gentle old soul. A handsome black Mini Schnauzer, he greets his people with enthusiasm whether you’ve been gone five minutes or five hours. He’s sweet‑natured, calm, and happiest with a scratch behind the ears. Ollie has well‑managed diabetes and has lost one eye (his cuteness hides the imperfection!) and hypertension, but he navigates life confidently and without fuss.

💙 Meet Oscar — 7 years

Oscar is the curious younger one — always wanting to know what you’re doing, and what the neighbours are doing. He’s affectionate, loves cuddles and TV time, and will absolutely try his luck at sneaking into your bed. Oscar has well‑managed epilepsy and is otherwise full of life.

🩺 Health Needs & Costs

Both boys require ongoing medications and regular 6‑monthly vet checks to ensure their conditions remain well managed & stable. Their long‑term Gold Coast vet has provided a clear, concise summary of each dog’s condition, the recommended monitoring schedule, and approx ongoing costs including medications. This information will be shared with shortlisted applicants so you can make an informed decision about whether their needs fit comfortably within your own circumstances.

💸NOTE: Their current carer will kindly subsidise Ollie's insulin for 2 years, making a significant difference. 💉 He's also recently had an extensive dental to ensure optimum health.

These extra costs mean these dogs won’t suit everyone — but their care is manageable, predictable, and absolutely worth it 💙

🏡 The Homes They Need

Both boys adore human company and will happily follow you from room to room. They are calm when left alone but would love someone who is home often.

🐕🐕Oscar would best suit a home with another canine companion to hang with and enjoy walks.

🐕Ollie deserves to be the sole dog, the centre of someone's world for his senior years 🫶

Due to their enthusiasm, they may jump up on young children, so they’re best suited to a single person or couple in a quiet, stable home.

📍We prefer they remain in SE Queensland/Northern NSW vicinity, but strong applications outside the area will be considered.

📆They will need to move into their new home by late August if possible.

🐕‍🦺🐕‍🦺 Own two dogs? One is a tad reactive? Here’s excellent advice on how to handle walkies!

"But I have to walk them together." 🙄
That's probably the biggest objection I hear.

"I just don't have another hour."
Fair enough.

The good news is you probably don't need to find one.

Many of my clients simply change how they use the time they already have.

One dog heads out for a 30 minute walk.

The other stays home and enjoys a scatter feed, a frozen food toy, some sniffing around the garden, or another enrichment activity.

Then they swap.

Nobody misses out.
One dog gets your complete attention. They've probably been craving that.

The other gets time to sniff, explore and decompress.

Then they both get the same opportunity.

For many reactive dogs, 30 minutes of having you all to themselves is worth far more than an hour spent competing for your attention.

Don't get me wrong, exercise is important. But for reactive dogs, staying under threshold is just as important. One without the other doesn't always help.

If you're already walking your dogs twice a day, the same idea applies. Instead of two shared walks, try two shorter solo walks with each dog. It doesn't necessarily mean more time, just using that time differently.

If you can, split that 30 minutes into two walks for your reactive dog.

You get more training opportunities.
More chances to work around different triggers.

And you're often more focused than trying to squeeze everything into one long walk.

There's another benefit people don't often think about.

Your non reactive dog finally gets to enjoy a walk without constantly being influenced by another dog's emotions.

Sometimes that's the walk they needed.

We can't say it often enough ... check your chip!

Imagine your pet goes missing… would they make it home?

It’s something no pet owner wants to think about, but the reality is, 1 in 3 pets will go missing at some point.

A collar or tag might help… but they can fall off, fade or be removed. A microchip? That stays with your pet for life.

Microchipped pets have a much higher chance of being reunited:

🐕 Dogs are 2x more likely to find their way home
🐈 Cats are 20x more likely to be returned to their owners

If your pet is found and taken to a vet or shelter, they’ll be scanned instantly, linking them straight back to you via the Australia's national database. And in the rare but serious case of theft, a microchip is your strongest proof of ownership.

✅️ Some top tips for dogs meeting in new places 😊

Oh this can go very wrong.😬
And afterwards we think we've figured out why.

"They just don't like the other dog"
Maybe.

But sometimes we've accidentally stacked those odds against them before they even met.

They aren't just meeting another dog.
They're also meeting an entirely new environment.

You know you're going to your friend's house at 12:30.
Your friend knows.
Your dog?
The other dog?

They have absolutely no idea what's about to happen.

A dog's home isn't just a house.
It's where they sleep.
Where they eat.
Where they relax because they know every sound, smell and exit.

Then suddenly.
An unfamiliar dog walks right through that door.

Now imagine the opposite.

Your dog walks into another dog's home.

Nothing is familiar.
They don't know the rules.
They don't know the exits.
They haven't had time to take in the environment in before they're encouraged to greet another dog.

Two dogs.
Two very different environments.
And two very different emotional experiences.

Sometimes the first meeting isn't just about the dogs.

It's also about where they're meeting.

And that environment?
It’s often dismissed as not the most important part.
But it’s often the key factor in successful meetings.

It can also be the main reason everything just went wrong

😒 Maybe controversial, but true. Too many obese schnauzers 🐷 waddling around currently, and young ones at that. It’s not cute, it’s cruel. It’s adding stress to their heart ❤️‍🩹 and other vital organs and creating a potential future of diseases, vet visits and expense. 😖 Not many actually need rice in their diet (unless vet has suggested as part of recovery).

✅ With so many options now to suit every budget, a little bit of research can set you on the best path for a healthy, weight appropriate future 💕

One of the unhealthiest diets is a homemade meat, rice & veggies - this isn't even close to balanced, and over time, by feeding only this, there will be a fallout. The problem is, it will be years down the track and you won't even think it's the diet.
