ANZAC DAY.

On this day, Saturday, April 25th, 2026, we honour the gallant Brethren of Lamington Lodge who made the supreme sacrifice:

* Wor. Bro. Frank Moran, Captain, 15th Battalion (A.I.F.). Died of wounds (Battle of Sari Bair, Gallipoli), onboard ship off Gibraltar, Friday, August 20th, 1915, aged 38 years.

* Bro. Thomas James Bartley, 2nd-Lieut., 42nd Battalion (A.I.F.). Killed in action, Belgium, Sunday, June 10th, 1917, aged 24 years.

* Bro. Stanley Leonard Roy Harvey, Gunner, 3rd Battery (A.F.A.). Died of wounds (gassed), Belgium, Saturday, November 3rd, 1917, aged 27 years.

* Bro. John Mactaggart, Flying Officer, 3 Squadron (R.A.A.F.). Killed in flying accident, El Alamein, Egypt, Tuesday, August 18th, 1942, aged 20 years.

* Bro. Charles Stanford Hill, Flight Lieut., 2 Air Ambulance (R.A.A.F.). Killed in flying accident, Charters Towers, Sunday, April 25th, 1943, aged 33 years.

* Bro. Alexander Charles McNab, Flying Officer, 452 Spitfire Squadron (R.A.A.F.). Killed in air combat, Timor Sea, Sunday, May 2nd, 1943, aged 24 years.

* Bro. John Gordon Bridgford, Lieut., 2/15th Battalion (Australian Army). Died of illness, Wilston, Monday, September 24th, 1945, aged 43 years.

CHARITY EVENT.

At the end of November 2025, Bro. John Zwoerner, of Lamington Lodge, No. 31 G.L.Q., will be participating in the Breakthrough T1D One Ride charity event to raise funds for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Breakthrough T1D is the world’s largest funder of type 1 diabetes research. To raise funds, he will be riding on Saturday, November 29th, 2025, through the picturesque Barossa Valley, South Australia. He has until mid-December to get his pledges and funds in.

Over the past 16 years, One Ride has welcomed more than 4,500 cyclists to the stunning Barossa Valley, South Australia, raising an incredible $14M for T1D research. Many participants return year after year, drawn by the sense of purpose, camaraderie, and challenge that makes this event truly special.

MILNE'S PASSING.

One hundred years ago, on Thursday, October 8th, 1925, Bro. James Milne, Esq., of Lamington Lodge, No. 110 U.G.L.Q., passed away suddenly in a private hospital. He was aged 68 years. At the time of his passing, he was chairman of directors of Smellie & Co., Ltd., Thomas Brown & Sons, Ltd., and the Queensland National Bank, Ltd.

Bro. Milne was the first candidate to be Initiated into Lodge Lamington, No. 842 S.C., after its establishment in 1896.
