My first day of Japan holiday was a trip to Mt Fuji. Rainy in Tokyo, then weather cleared on bus ride up to 4th station at 2020m high. Great to see this world heritage site. After a tasty lunch we took a gondola ride up a nearby mountain but unfortunately gusty wind bought lots of cloud which blocked any view and the cruise on Lake Ashi pirate ship was cancelled. We had a saki tasting instead and the sun came out as we took our very fast bullet train back to Tokyo.

A fortunate stroke of serendipity in relation to my previous shows occurred when I went to the theatre last night. I saw "Peter and the StarCatcher" which is a prequel to "Peter Pan". It was fantastic. I have written and produced a children's pantomime called "Billy Can" which can be described as Peter Pan set in the outback (2004, 2007 2024). The musical director of "Peter and the Star Catcher" is James Dobinson who played the lead role of Dorian Gray in my 2003 JWP musical "Portrait" based on Oscar Wilde's classic novel "The Picture of Dorian Gray". It was great to catch up with James after the show and hear stories about his life in New York. When I took the photo in the theatre foyer about James, the publicity screen above it was advertising Frankenstein which is coming to QPAC later this year. I have also written and produced a musical called "Frankenstein - Creature Vs Creator" (2011). The coincidental connection of these 3 shows in one night was surreal.
