🎓 PBQ Protected Areas expert Nicky Moffat traded the campaign trail for the lecture hall this week, speaking to sustainability students at the University of Queensland's School of the Environment!

Nicky shared the wins for nature we've achieved by teaming up with our conservation, tourism, outdoors and First Nations allies — proof that collaboration gets results. 🌏

"It was so fun, I feel like I have 50 new friends! Many students are keen to collaborate with us on everything from fundraising to beach clean-ups and shark conservation. It's fabulous to feel their energy and hope for Queensland's unique and threatened species. I've no doubt they're the leaders of tomorrow."

The future of conservation is in good hands.

In 2024, part of Beerburrum West State Forest was added to the Glass House Mountains Conservation Park. This was great news, but 1600 hectares of habitat for threatened plant and animals species on Jinibara Country still needs protection.

💚 Located next to the tiny Benarkin National Park, Benarkin State Forest is home to the koala and other threatened animals and contains six endangered regional ecosystems. The region is culturally important to the Wakka Wakka, Jagera, Yuppera, and Ugarapul peoples, and is popular with birdwatchers, horse riders, mountain bikers, trail runners, and hikers!
