Mint Mates Ready to invest in you? Life’s transitions can be tough, but with the right tools and support, they become the perfect fuel for growth.

Helping Young People Find Their Thing

Welcome to Mint Mates – where we give young people the space to discover all parts of themselves, helping them break free from self-doubt, build confidence, and level up their skills. As a Youth Mentor and Motivator, I team up with young people to help them discover their natural talents and build new skills that unlock a whole new level of confidence. This

isn’t just about learning – it’s about unlocking and developing an epic skill set that lets them tackle the real world and life’s challenges with confidence. Together, we embark on a journey of self-discovery, empowering their mindset and shattering old, limiting beliefs. There is no one-size-fits all approach. I work with each young person in a way that feels real to them using different methods to match their own pace and learning style. Mint Mates is about helping them embrace new thought processes and new beliefs that embody their true potential and feel unstoppable as they move through life. This isn’t just mentorship – it’s about building a mindset that carries them through life.

Don’t just put together a CV and think “that will do”. It just won’t cut it anymore, there could be an entire 8 week course on preparing your CV, language, layout,
format to the content that you actually put in it.

I won’t go into all of that, but thought I would share a little of what I have learned whilst supporting some of my clients and from my background in recruitment.

Not saying I can keep up with every update, trend and software, so recruiters don’t come after me! But these tips should help you out if you have no idea about this stuff, which why would you as it’s not taught at school or Uni, I don’t think 🤷‍♀️

Hope it helps and comment if you have any specific questions and I will do my best to answer.

Thanks Jules 🫶🏾

It doesn’t matter how long or how experienced you are in your craft, as human beings we will always make mistakes.

But what you choose to learn from that and do is what I think is important. I made a poor choice of words in my previous post about “What I noticed this week”.

Although I was highlighting the positive things I notice in my clients I described one of my clients as “painfully shy” and then went on to talk about the positives this client has achieved. However, I have reflected on this and realised that my excitement for her growth got ahead of my words. I always try to focus on the courage and growth and not use labels, so I caught myself, learnt from it, talked to my beautiful client, Abby about this and we ended up recording this.

I hope you can take from this, that even if something might not seem like a big deal or that you could ignore it and hope no one notices, you also have another choice, which is to own it, learn from it and deal with it in a way that matches your professional standards and values.

Thanks all and good luck to Abby for this afternoons interview 😊

Okay let’s start shouting out some of the hard work and achievements people have achieved this week. (Full disclosure, everything I share is from my work with young people or adults and did happen, but some may not of been from this week and past interactions).

I really want you to pause and reflect on something you have done this week that might not look or seem like a big deal to others, but it’s a big deal to you.

Own it, be proud of it, you have done something difficult for you and have started something you can build on. Love that, love you!

We all fall into the habit of believing that whatever you are experiencing right now is how life is going to be forever.

When things are hard, we struggle to imagine them ending. When things are good, maybe we assume thats how life will always be.

Neither is true.

Every phase and season has something to teach us. I fell down the stairs and broke both legs, absolute 💩 🥪 but I learned to slow down and regulate myself more easily and that was a blessing.

💚 What season are you in now and what’s it teaching you?

Fitting in is part of life and not necessarily a bad thing.

However, if you are spending a lot of time always trying to fit in, it might be a good idea to clock this and look at what you can do to seek out more spaces or a space where you can be a little more yourself. ❤️

Stop looking at who or what's over the fence or office cubicle and whether what they have is better.
Start investing your energy, time and love into what you already have. 🫶🏽

It’s amazing how quickly one small moment can turn into a much bigger story in our heads.

For me, this was about eating too much. But really, it could be anything.

🗣️ Something we said.
😬 A mistake we made.
👎🏽 A decision we regret.
😑 A day where things didn’t quite go to plan.

We can be curious about what happened without beating ourselves up about it.

Notice it. Learn from it. Move forward. 🫶🏾

What’s something you tend to be harder on yourself about than you need to be?

If I think about all the things I hear in the Mint Mates office, here is a snapshot of some of the things I wish I could share with you or I knew earlier.

Life is not that simple as so many of these you will only learn later on through time, experience and reflection, but I would love for any of these to spend a cheeky 5 seconds in your brain.

What do people come to you for help with?

Maybe it's advice. Maybe it's organising the "girls" trip. You might be the go-to person for building things, for listening or problem-solving, or for picking your brain on something they can't work out on their own. Maybe it's a laugh, because you're the one they go to when they need a break and to get out of their head.

Whatever it is, don't dismiss it as "oh, that's nothing." That's a little clue, a skill you've probably got and maybe haven't even recognised. But it means something, and I see it, and I want you to see it too.

Have a think about this one. Ask a mate or someone close to you the same question and see what comes up for both of you.

Share this with someone you go to for advice or their skill-set. →
