This should be a giant scandal.

The LNP Council has been promising Metro bus expansions for nine years - since 2017. It remains their ONLY plan to significantly improve public transport in Brisbane before the Olympics in 2032.

The four expansions were supposed to create dedicated bus corridors (1) North (Chermside to Carseldine), (2) East (Coorparoo to Carindale/Capalaba), (3) South (Eight Miles Plains to Springwood) and (4) to the Airport & DFO.

Now we've learned the expansions won't happen until after the Olympics. That will be ---15 years--- after they were first promised.

The Olympics were supposed to speed up delivery of public transport. Instead, both Council and the State government have actually CUT projects promised before Brisbane got the Games.

The LNP Council got a $50 million grant from the federal government in 2025 for a "Rapid Business Case" for the Metro bus expansions.

Today the Brisbane Times revealed that "Rapid" business case won't be finished until 2027, and construction won't be actually started until late 2032.

The four expansions were never going to help most people on the southside. People in Annerley, Woolloongabba, Greenslopes, Stones Corner, Moorooka, Holland Park, Fairfield, Yeronga, Yeerongpilly were never going to benefit much.

Now we've learned that the Council won't be creating ANY new public transport infrastructure in our area for at least another six years.

To make things worse, the State government under both Labor and the LNP have totally failed to deliver any new bus priority corridors or bus lanes as well. And they don't have any plans to start.

The Southside deserves so much better.

Let's bring them back.

Here's a tram on Beaudesert Rd, Moorooka, just before Ipswich Rd.

Today these wide streets have no dedicated space for public transport, and they're choked with cars.

The State government under Labor promised to create a "bus priority" corridor on Ipswich Rd from Moorooka Station to Woolloongabba Busway in 2021, but nothing ever happened.

The new LNP State government have scrapped those plans, reallocating their public transport spending to the "Metro" bus rapid transit expansions to Carindale, Carseldine, Springwood and the Airport. None are near Ipsiwch Rd.

Now Brisbane City Council under the LNP is working on a preliminary designs for bus priority on Ipswich and Beaudesert Rd Moorooka, but we're concerned they'll be buried.

We need to reallocate road space to public transport, away from cars.

πŸ“· credit Brisbane City Council.

Instead of putting on more trains and buses, the State government are giving away public land at six different ports to insanely rich oil companies.

The solution to expensive fossil car dependency is more public transport.

Here's a 120 bus stuck in afternoon peak hour traffic.

The bus was full.

The cars were mostly one person only.

It happens pretty much every day, almost always in the same spots.

There’s plenty room for peak-hour outbound bus lanes here on Lewisham St and on Earl St plus an inbound bus lane on Ekibin Rd East.

Council should create these bus lanes and speed up the 120, 114, 119 and 121 which all use this route.

🚌🚌 Today we're sharing a local petition which calls for peak hour bus lanes on *one* side of the road in the following spots:

-- Inbound (6am - 9am) for a 400m stretch of Sexton St & Ekibin Rd East, starting at Pauline St and finishing at the Ekibin Rd roundabout.
-- Outbound (3pm - 6pm) for a 1km stretch of Earl St and Lewisham St, starting at Cornwall St and finishing at the same Ekibin Rd roundabout.
