A community of like-minded people who share stories of Random Acts of Kindness, Inspiration and support each other through kindness. Inspired by the passing of a friend and the profound effect that her life had on those around her. Sprinkle, the orange teapot in the profile picture sits on my desk at the high school where

I work, where my colleagues, students and families of the school leave their stories of random acts of kindness. The teapot was meant to be used as a vase at a fundraising function but she was cracked in transit so couldn't hold water. Because the theme of the function was Strive to be Kind, one day I brought Sprinkle to work (at my school) and placed her on my desk - the rest is history. It's a wonderful analogy to use with schoolkids (and everyone really), in that sometimes your life may not work out how you had planned it, but the outcome is a pleasant surprise. An act of kindness is a spontaneous gesture of goodwill towards someone or something - our fellow humans, the animal kingdom, and the kingdom of nature. Kind words and deeds come from a state of benevolence, generated by a core
response deep within all of us. When we carry out an act of kindness it is a message from one heart to another, an act of love, an unspoken "I care" statement. These are some of the comments from people who joined our Strive to be Kind Event page and asked to keep it going. "Even though sad and evil things do happen in the world around us, it is reassuring to know and be aware of the kind things that people do for each other." "Belonging to a group of like-minded people is inspiring and comforting." "Regular posts and snippets encourage people to carry out random acts of kindness in our daily lives and we become more aware of the difficulties that other people are facing." "If I am having a bad or down day, it’s uplifting to hear a nice story." "I’ve been suffering from mild depression and it has helped to feel part of a small community of people with similar views." I look forward to sharing special moments with you. Dee Hudson
