Rotary Club of Bright's FY2026 change over has wrapped, marking the end of a wonderful year of service and the beginning of an exciting new one. The evening was capably MC'd by Secretary Al Poyner and brought together a fantastic turnout of community guests, including representatives from the Lions Club, the Bright Autumn Festival, the Bright Chamber of Commerce, the CFA and our Mayor, Sarah Nichols.

Club President Phil Keeghan reflected on the year, saying: "It has been a privilege to lead this Club through another year of meaningful projects and strong community partnerships. I'm proud of what we've achieved together and excited for what the incoming board will bring."

A new board was officially appointed for the year ahead, and we look forward to the energy and ideas they'll bring to our Club.

A special highlight of the evening was the awarding of a Paul Harris Fellowship to Leanne Poyner, recognised for her tireless work as Community Chair. Leanne has organised countless BBQs for the Club over the years and played a key role over three years in bringing the Bright Outdoor Gym to life. Congratulations Leanne, thoroughly well deserved!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a lovely dinner, good food and great fellowship as we celebrated another successful year for the Rotary Club of Bright. πŸ₯‚πŸ’™

πŸŽ‰ IT'S OPEN AND IT'S YOURS! πŸ’ͺ🏼
Last week, our Mayor officially opened the Bright Outdoor Gym, joined by teams from Alpine Shire Council and the Rotary Club of Bright. A few people even got to try out the equipment on the day and it looks like it was worth the wait!

But here's what we really want to say.

This gym belongs to all of us.

If you've ever bought a sausage in bread from one of our stalls or grabbed a bacon and egg roll on a cold morning market day, volunteered at or slid down the waterslide, browsed our markets or quietly slipped a few dollars into our donations box, you helped build this gym. Every single one of those moments added up to something real, something lasting, something your whole family can use every single day, completely free.

That's what community looks like.

The Rotary Club of Bright works hard because we love this town. We see the gap between what people need and what they can afford and we try to fill it. This gym is one of our proudest efforts, over $90,000 raised and invested right here alongside our partners at Alpine Shire Council, because you deserve it.

Go and use it. Take the kids. Take your mum. Take yourself on a Tuesday morning when you need to clear your head.

It's next door to the Bright Community Centre and it's waiting for you. πŸ’™

πŸ”΅Special mention to Leanne Poyner for her tireless work in getting this project up πŸ’•

What a day! Bright's Autumn Festival Gala Day did not disappoint, with crowds filling the streets and a wonderful buzz around the markets from start to finish. The colour, the energy and the community spirit were everything we could have hoped for.

Behind every great market day is a team that makes it happen, and our own Al Poyner and Jodie Germaine deserve an enormous thank you for the tireless work they pour into making our markets the success they are. Al was out there as always, clipboard in hand, keeping everything running smoothly, the unsung engine behind a very well-oiled machine.

And of course, no Rotary Club of Bright parade entry would be complete without the one and only Michelle Chalwell at the helm of our float! Year after year Michelle brings the fun, the gold tinsel and the pure theatre to our "Bright Pure Gold" entry, and this year was no exception.

A huge thank you to every member who volunteered their time, every stallholder who brought their very best and to the community of Bright for showing up and showing out. This is exactly why we do what we do.

Here's to next year! 🌟

πŸŽ‰ IT'S ALMOST TIME - THE BRIGHT OUTDOOR GYM OPENS THIS TUESDAY!

Join us this Tuesday 5 May at 10am behind the Bright Community Centre to celebrate the opening of our brand new Outdoor Gym, free for everyone to use, every day.

This project has been more than two years in the making and watching it come to life has been one of our proudest moments as a club. The Rotary Club of Bright partnered with Alpine Shire Council to invest $90,000 in this facility because we believe staying active shouldn't come with a price tag.

The reality is that physiotherapy and gym memberships are out of reach for many in our community. Our kids need places to move and play. Our older residents need low-impact exercise options that keep them healthy and independent. And everyone, no matter their age or budget, deserves access to equipment that supports their wellbeing.

This gym is our answer to that.

Watch the video to see the journey from ground-breaking to opening day, then come down on Tuesday and try it for yourself. Bring the family. It's yours. πŸ’ͺ

🌰 Community Support in Action!

The Rotary Club of Bright was proud to present a $2,000 donation to the Wandi Nut Festival for this years event. It is such a wonderful local event that brings our community together and celebrates the unique character of our region.

Supporting events like this is what Rotary is all about. When local initiatives thrive, the whole community benefits.

Congratulations to the Wandi Nut Festival team on another great event and here's to many more! πŸŽ‰
