Here’s a group of Museum volunteers doing for free what NSW Public Works couldn’t manage to do with $4 million. We have started work on the exhibition space that will house the historic 1894 billiard table. Everyone in Public Works on a salary over $250,000pa should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. Where is the help we still need to finish the precinct Steve?

Braidwood singer/songwriters Mikelangelo (Michael Simic) and Lily Acheson join forces with Sutton-based pedal steel player Ged Corben to reimagine Australian songs of the 1980s into a panoramic and evocative soundscape of dreams and memory.

Including beloved songs by The Church, Hoodoo Gurus and Hunters and Collectors and underground gems from Ed Kuepper, The Scientists and Beasts of Bourbon and more.

Acheson, Simic and Corben remake these classics into their own atmospheric and compelling versions, interspersed with their original songs inspired by Braidwood and surrounds.

This will be uniquely beautiful and memorable concert in an iconic local venue, The Braidwood Museum Ballroom ( Oddfellows Hall).

Simic has made his name on national and international stages under his moniker of Mikelangelo, headlining major festivals and venues from the Sydney Opera House to London’s West End.

Ged Corben cut his teeth playing in Sydney bands the Lime Spiders and the Cruel Sea in the 80s/90s and now manages his farm in Sutton and plays with a host of Canberra and Sydney bands.

Lily Acheson is known from local duo Earl, and has been collaborating with Simic on various projects over the last 18 months.

The Braidwood Museum is proud to host the first of our concert series. with the debut of Australiana By Night.

🚨 THE BRAIDWOOD MUSEUM NEEDS OUR HELP TO BRIDGE THE GAP!
🚨Braidwood is one of Australia’s most loved heritage towns, and the Braidwood Museum & Heritage Centre is the heartbeat of our history.Right now, the Centre is on the cusp of becoming 100% self-sustaining!
Incredible things are happening:
✨ 6 new accommodation rooms are opening
✨ A new café, artisan studios, and co-working spaces are coming
✨ Museum visits, town tours, and events are growing every month
The Challenge:We have a critical 5-month gap (July–December 2026) before these new revenue streams fully kick in.
We need to raise $60,000 to retain our vital Curator/Manager, who keeps the doors open, supports our volunteers, and builds this sustainable future.
This is not a rescue. It is a strategic bridge to long-term viability!
