After completing 5 previous rides raising funds and awareness for MND and Huntington's Disease this ride from Broome to Bowral will be with my grandson Tom Malcolm and we plan to set off from Broome in late June 2026 with funds directed solely to MND NSW.

Bob and Tom did a big ride on Saturday - 108kms around the beautiful Southern Highlands including Bundanoon Penrose Wingello finishing with a cold beer at the Surveyor General at Berrima - great day

Easter has come and gone, and what a beautiful time it was. We feel so lucky to have spent it with family and friends—memories we’ll cherish for a long time.
As our June trip draws closer, the excitement is really starting to build! A lot is happening behind the scenes…
The boys have been putting in the work—training hard and getting those miles in. Bob’s even jumped on the stationary bike to push himself that little bit further, while Tom is off doing what he loves most, competing out on the road.
The girls have been busy too, quietly “bower birding” away—gathering all the little things they’ll need for the journey ahead.
And Lucky? He’s made a few changes of his own, with a new diet to keep him feeling his best and ready for the adventure.
It’s all coming together, and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead. Stay tuned… the countdown is on!

🚴‍♂️ Why Bob is Riding

This ride from Broome to Bowral isn’t about distance.
It’s about time.
Motor Neurone Disease has no cure.
The average life expectancy after diagnosis is just 27 months.
That’s why Bob — and his grandson Tom — are riding.

For over 40 years, MND NSW has supported people living with MND across NSW, the ACT and the Northern Territory.
Words from the CEO Graham Opie shared on 18 November 2025:
“Without a cure, and an average life expectancy of just 27 months, we focus on providing life-changing education, assistive equipment, and support to improve the quality of life of people with MND, their families, and carers.
We ask you to show your support for this amazing challenge taken on by Bob and Tom and together we can make a real difference in the lives of those that need it most.”
