Support The Girls Australia

Support The Girls Australia We are a Charity committed to empowering & restoring dignity to all persons that identify as female. We provide them with lingerie, conversation and compassion.

Support The Girls is a registered Charity committed to empowering and supporting women and girls who cannot afford to maintain their dignity and wellbeing. We do this within all communities. Our motto, 'When women thrive, humanity thrives,' isn't just a slogan—it's a guiding principle. By investing in the well-being of women, we're sowing the seeds of a brighter, more compassionate future for all.

Together, let's build a world where every woman can thrive, where every voice is heard, and where humanity flourishes." https://linktr.ee/SupportTheGirlsAustralia

Ten years ago, on 4 March, I created the Support The Girls Australia page.

It began after I met Lily, a homeless woman.

She had catastrophic wounds under her breasts caused by chafing. She did not have a bra. That moment impacted me to such an extent due to my own journey, that I knew something had to change. Women deserve dignity. A bra is not a luxury for many women. It is a necessity.

That meeting started a journey that has shaped and consumed the last ten years of my life.

Today I need to share difficult news. You will notice things have been very quiet on our social media. It has been due to my health.

Due to my serious and ongoing health issues, the Board and I have made the decision to close Support The Girls Australia. We will be officially closed at the end of March.

This decision has not been made lightly. I have spent ten years giving everything to my role as Founder and CEO. Not many of you will know that I worked seven days a week to keep the charity operating. We did not have a team of paid staff. No social media people, no marketing, no admin. It was one person and that was myself.

Support The Girls Australia has always been built on integrity and a strong moral compass. We focused on purpose. We did not have large funding streams. What we had was commitment, passion, and an extraordinary team of volunteers.

As women we often put ourselves last. I have done that for most of my life. It is now time for me to put my health first.

I have three adult children and a beautiful grandson who need me.

Together we achieved results that will leave a lasting impact and legacy.

• Over 10,000 women received support through bras, underwear, and essential items.
• More than 2,000 Indigenous women attended mammograms through our Rural Outreach with BreastScreen NSW.
• Women gained access to information, choice, and healthcare that many had never accessed before.
• Trust grew between Indigenous communities and BreastScreen teams.
• Public bra gifting events created safe spaces where women could connect and feel supported.
• Working with the Australia Defence force in operation Operation Christmas Drop delivering support to remote indigenous communities via air drops was incredible.
There are so many more moments that I could share.

I am immensely proud of what we achieved.

The last decade holds memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I met women whose strength and resilience changed me. I met volunteers whose compassion never wavered.

To every person who donated bras, underwear, menstrual products, or toiletries, thank you. Your support empowered over 10,000 women. Your generosity created dignity and comfort for women who needed it.
To my amazing tribe of “bra fairies”. A huge thank you for your commitment and compassion for women. To my small dedicated rural outreach team – from the bottom of my heart thank you. We have travelled thousands of miles and shared much laughter and tears. Your unwavering commitment to leave your families for 4-5 days has been incredible. I know we will all have a life long bond. To anyone that has given of their time in anyway. I say thank you.

To the organisation's and business’s that supported us with product and financial support, we are forever grateful for your belief in us.

To all the Indigenous Medical Services across Queensland and NSW it was such a privilege to work alongside you and support your clients. We know we have built bridges that will span a lifetime. Thank you for trusting my small team.

All remaining stock has now been donated. It has been distributed to services and communities that share the same purpose and values as ourselves.

Thank you for believing in this work.

Thank you for walking beside us.

Thank you for the compassion you showed women across Australia.

From my heart, thank you.

🚀✨ We’re thrilled to share our 2025 impact figures, and wow, what a rollercoaster ride it’s been! 🌟 Despite facing challenges with limited volunteers, we’ve risen to the occasion to meet an incredible demand. Talk about resilience! 💪

The amount of women we supported is up on last year. The statistics are really interesting. When I look at the demographics the biggest group of women age wise that are supported are between 40 and 50 with the next biggest group being between 50 and 60.

Thank you to everyone who supported us and donated goods. Without your support we would not have achieved the numbers. 😍

As we farewell 2025, we acknowledge that this has been a deeply challenging year for many. So many individuals and families are facing increased adversity, uncertainty, and hardship. At the same time, we are witnessing a rise in entitlement and negativity across our communities and social spaces—reminders of how vital compassion, humility, and respect truly are.

Our wish for the year ahead is simple, yet powerful:
May 2026 bring peace, strength, and meaningful success into your life.
Whatever journey you are on, may you walk it with authenticity, courage, and self-care—because you matter, and your wellbeing comes first.

May we all invest in kindness, in community, and in lifting one another up. May we spread more love, more patience, and more humanity. The world needs it, and together, we can create it.

From all of us at Support The Girls Australia, Happy New Year.

This Christmas, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to every supporter, volunteer, partner, and friend of Support The Girls. This has been a tough year for so many—financially, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. For me personally, it has also been a physically challenging year, and I have learnt the importance of embracing truth, honouring limits, and recognising the strength that comes through vulnerability.

To anyone feeling lonely, overwhelmed, tired, or unsure right now, please know this: you are not alone. You are held within a community that cares deeply.

As Australians, we have faced so much recently, yet in true Aussie spirit, we continue to show resilience, compassion, and unity. We look out for one another. We lift each other up. That is our strength.

May this Christmas bring moments of peace, connection, and gentle hope. Thank you for standing with us, and with the women we proudly serve.

With gratitude,
Jane Holmes ❤️

Tonight, as Christmas Eve arrives, may we pause and breathe.

May we remember that the greatest gifts are kindness, connection, and simply being together.

For those that are really struggling, we hope tonight brings a moment of peace, a soft smile, and the comfort of knowing you are not alone.

Hoping that this evening, whether you are having a traditional Christmas dinner, bbq at the beach etc - compassion, happy hearts and gentle hope find its way into every home.

Wishing everyone calm, warmth, and love tonight. ❤️

This Christmas, if your heart feels heavy or the pressure feels overwhelming, please know you are not alone.

For so many families, this season is not about overflowing trees or expensive gifts—it is about being together, feeling safe, and finding moments of peace.

Christmas is not measured by what is wrapped…
It is measured by love, connection, and kindness.

Give yourself grace and breathe. You are doing enough. ❤️
