YAAMA mob

Yesterday at The Block the team came in strong.

By 2pm the crew were setting up art & wellness activities, cutting fruit, prepping dinner and making sure everything was safe, ready and welcoming.

At 4pm transport kicked off. Shayemma and Bethany headed out to Toomelah, then across to Goondiwindi for our 4:30pm PCYC pick-ups. Young people rolled into The Block for art, games, chill-out time and some solid wellness yarns.

At the same time, our Program Coordinator Buddy B was over at Goondiwindi Junior Rugby League training, supporting access to and from sport every Thursday, promoting Physical activity, Structure, Healthy lifestyle. Beating boredom with purpose and we know our community lives footy season hahah

Once footy wrapped up, everyone came back for dinner. Spaghetti bolognese on the menu a clear favourite followed by some late basketball runs beats through the knox studio before safe drop-offs home.

Big thanks to all the young people who showed up, and to our partners,Goondiwindi Junior Rugby League Toomelah Respect Program (night patrol transport support)

YAAMA mob 🔥

The new Block Krew jumped straight into it the past 2 days.

Big shout out to Jed, Executive Principal at Boggabilla Central School, for inviting our krew to sit in on and contribute to the Berry Street training. Powerful learning around trauma-informed practice—understanding how trauma impacts development and learning, building strong relationships, creating safe and supportive spaces, using positive relational behaviour strategies, and leading with strengths.

This training is designed for educators… and that’s exactly what our BLOCK krew are after hours do best. We walk alongside young people in learning, growth and healing every day.

Massive thanks to Bogga School, one of our key partners. Together we provide real wraparound support that meets the needs of our youth and community.

Learning. Sharing. Leading.

How deadly 💛

MEET THE KREW⤵️

Yaama meet the Krew walking with our young people at The Block. How exciting 💯✊🏾

This year we step forward with a strong, grounded team — from community, for community.

Each brings lived experience, purpose and a commitment to lead with action.

Buddy Brown – Program Coordinator
15+ years across community programs, youth work, sport, fitness and music. Buddy coordinates the program, runs weekly music sessions in the Knox Studio, and supports youth access to footy training every Thursday.

Bethany – Miyay Cultural Youth Mentor
A recent high school graduate bringing her deadly art, creativity and movement. Bethany supports young women to express themselves, regulate emotions and make healthy, informed choices. She definitely leads with action.

Shayemma – Miyay Cultural Youth Mentor
Leads with culture, strength and heart. Shayemma creates safe spaces for young women to grow strong in identity, confidence and pride through culture and sport.

Charlie – Birray Cultural Youth Mentor
Grounded in culture, community and responsibility. A lover of sport and active RFS member, Charlie leads by example and gives back to community.

This Krew understands our community challenges because they live it too. Please give them a warm YAAMA (WELCOME).
