Good morning,

Please find attached the Notification and Agenda for the Annual General Meeting of the Garden Clubs of Australia Inc (GCA) to be held at 10.00am on Wednesday 14 October 2026, at Club York, 95-99 York Street, Sydney.

Three key forms are attached to the Notification, please read each document carefully and note the requirements in red at the bottom of each:

· Nomination for election to the Board, including a sample resume as a guide.

· Nomination of a Delegate to represent an Affiliate at the AGM.

· In the case that a Delegate from an Affiliate cannot attend the meeting, a form granting that Affiliate’s proxy to vote.

Nomination For Board membership

A list of candidates for the GCA Board will be circulated after the closing date for nominations.

Delegates

Each Affiliate is entitled to nominate one delegate.

Voting

Only GCA Board Members, GCA Life Members, and Affiliate Delegates may vote at the AGM. Zone Coordinators may vote only if they have been made an Affiliate Delegate. For a vote to be valid, those entitled to vote must be present at the meeting or have given a proxy to an eligible voter.

If a Delegate from an Affiliate cannot attend the AGM, that Affiliate is entitled to one proxy vote to be assigned to an eligible voting attendee. Note that voting is not compulsory but a way in which each Affiliate may have a say in how GCA moves forward.

Catering

If an Affiliate plans to send a Delegate, and if any of its members or guests plan also to attend please advise us for catering. Any dietary requirements should be advised. (see contact details below)

I am happy to assist with any queries.

Kind regards

Helen Stevens

What does our theme actually mean? 🪴

⛰️ Challenging Spaces: slopes, small areas, dim areas, bad soil, balconies etc
🫙 Containers: recycled plastic/jars, pots, sinks, bathtubs, raised beds etc
🧑‍🌾 Learn directly from the gardener
🌱 14th & 15th November

🛁 Bathtub from Springwood Community Garden a participating garden

Containers and challenging spaces is a celebration of the ingenuity and resourcefulness of edible gardeners making the most of difficult situations

P.S. Not all gardens will specifically fit the theme (all gardens are welcome!) but all gardeners have challenges they have overcome! 💪

What other containers and challenging spaces can you think of? 🪴

Hi everyone 👋🏽

Here’s another event, a Zoom on Sep 1st, hosted by Psychology for a Safe Climate (the NGO behind Climate Cafes).

It’s a ‘Nourish Session’, a facilitated sharing/discussion space, somewhat akin to a Climate Cafe but with a focus on developing a range of emotional resilience skills.

If that sounds interesting (plus it’s PWYC - pay what you can), please take a look at the full event details:

These sessions create space for people from the nature and climate movement to come together to connect, build practical resilience skills, rest and replenish.
