Hi everyone! Our August meeting will be held on Tuesday 25th August at 10.00am. If you're thinking about joining the CWA, please feel welcome to come along. In addition to the meeting, our members and friends will be together in our meeting room for our usual cuppa, chat and craft morning. You don't need to be a member to come along to this, just someone who loves making craft items and/or who would like to buy something special for themselves or special person in their life. Hi everyone! After all the excitement of last week, normal life has resumed for the Chittering-Bindoon CWA!!! That means Tuesday morning is craft morning, when our meeting room is open to crafters to work on our projects or bring along one of their own. Friendly conversation, a cuppa and the satisfying art of engaging in craft projects. And if you're not a crafter, our room is full of wonderful items to buy, such as knee rugs and beanies (both of which are essentials in this awfully chilly weather) and heaps of other hand-made items. Open Tuesdays 9.30 - 1.00, so call in!!!

It's a few days behind us now, but we want to let you know there's an article about the Home, Craft and Garden day in the August edition of Northern Valleys News. Check it out to read about the Parker Halse Perpetual Trophy, who the winners of each section were, and see the photo below of the jubilant Jurien Bay CWA branch celebrating their win! A reminder: Badgingarra won the Home Grown section; CWA Bindoon Belles won Cookery; Chittering-Bindoon won Photography; and Jurien Bay CWA won Home Craft. Great women doing great things!!!

The Chittering Bindoon CWA had a fabulous day today hosting the Home, Craft and Garden Day in the Bindoon Hall. Eight branches, Badgingarra, CWA Bindoon Belles, Cervantes, Chittering-Bindoon, Jurien Bay CWA Koorunga, Lancelin and Districts, and Moora showcased the skills and talents of their members in a range of areas: Cookery - won by the Bindoon CWA Bindoon Belles; Garden and Produce - won by Badgingarra; Hand Craft - won by Jurien Bay CWA; and Photography - won by Chittering-Bindoon. Pooling these four competitions, the overall winner was Jurien Bay CWA. A separate competition focussing on Hand Crafts, the Parker Halse Perpetual Trophy, was won by Jurien Bay CWA. The level of skill was impressive, as were the many, many hours of work invested in creating some true masterpieces. Our special thanks go to the judges who assessed entries, Lancelin and Districts who oversaw the catering and ensured we enjoyed a sumptuous meal, and Koorunga who oversaw the preparation of judges scoring sheets and certificates. Our State President Felicity Edwards attended and presented the certificates and Parker Halse Trophy. We are grateful to the Shire of Chittering for providing some grant funding to offset some of the costs of hosting this event. Congratulations to the winners! We've attached photos showing some of the entries, and we'll post again when we have more photos at hand. A wonderful celebration of friendship and skills!

Tuesday mornings are craft mornings for the Chittering-Bindoon CWA members and friends. Call into our room in the Bindoon Hall to see the fabulous range of beanies, knee rugs and other hand-made items for sale. If you enjoy craft and would like to come along, you are very welcome. Bring your own project or work on one of ours - your choice. A 9.30 start with a cuppa, ending at 1.00. The items made are either given to people in need or sold to raise funds to support our service of the community. We value your support!

On this chilly morning, we'd like to let you know that tomorrow morning (Tuesday 14th), the Chittering-Bindoon CWA room in the Bindoon Hall will be open from 9.30 - 1.00. This is when we gather for a craft, cuppa and chat morning, but the important thing in this cold weather is that we have lots of BEANIES and KNEE RUGS for sale. Our members have made these with skill and love, so if you need another layer of warmth, call in to buy one!

We're about to break for lunch, but so much has already happened! A wonderful banner parade with about 100 banners on parade; welcome addresses from Felicity and Trish; an inspiring and thought-provoking address from Blythe Calnan; interviews with 3 of the medical scholarship holders; presentations of the Clarice Rudduck Memorial Award to Mandurah and Northampton branches; the Community grant was awarded to the Forrest Darlings; Honorary Life Memberships to Dorothy Crogan and Delyse Ward; and to top it off, the 90th birthday of the CWA Cookbook was celebrated with a cake cut by previous state presidents. We'll be back this afternoon for the AGM. Phew! What a great day!

The CWA State Conference is underway at the Rendezvous in Scarborough, and Chittering-Bindoon is there! It's a buzz right now because the day is about to begin with the parade of branch banners, always a moving spectacle. The photos tell some of the story!
