She’s not one for the spotlight, recognition, or accolades… but we couldn’t let this one pass by without acknowledging it. 💙❤️
To know the Berri Blazers Basketball Club is to know Chrissy.
A Life Member, coach, umpire, player, volunteer, mentor, committee member, program leader and someone who has quite genuinely shaped generations of basketballers within our club.
If you’ve played at Berri at any point over the years, chances are you’ve been coached by Chrissy, umpired by Chrissy, learned from Chrissy, or been encouraged by Chrissy from the sidelines.
For decades, she has poured endless hours into our basketball community. From being a driving force behind our Aussie Hoops program for many years, to founding and leading our all-inclusive basketball program, Chrissy has always been passionate about making sure everyone has a place in sport.
And somehow, amongst all of that, she still continues to play herself.
Last night, the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing recognised Chrissy for her incredible contribution to community sport and volunteering, an honour that is beyond deserved.
In true Chrissy fashion, she was unfortunately unable to attend the event, because she was volunteering her time within the local sporting community instead.
More recently, she has also taken on a huge role within local netball, helping promote and report on the Riverland Netball Association and continuing to give back to regional sport in every way she can.
Chrissy represents everything grassroots sport is about, selflessness, inclusion, dedication, and community.
While she would probably prefer we didn’t make a fuss, we are incredibly proud to celebrate and recognise the impact she has had, and continues to have, on the Berri Blazers family and the wider Riverland sporting community.
Thank you, Chrissy. ❤️💙🏀
