In the year 2022, the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research recorded 540 recorded incidents of Domestic Violence related assaults in the Hornsby - North Sydney region. And Hornsby has been identified as a domestic violence hotspot with an under-supply of crisis accommodation for women and children. It can include financial control, social control, manipulation and gaslighting. Violence again
st women is defined as any behavior that could cause physical, sexual or psychological harm to women, including threats of harm or coercion in public or in private. Domestic abuse is an issue that effects many women, causing isolation and shame. The road to recovery is often long and difficult. We would like to send a message of support to women in these situations that they are not alone - there is hope. What we are doing about it. A group local business and community groups have felt moved to do something to support the vital work of the Hornsby Kuring-G*i Women’s Shelter. On Saturday the 10th of August, 2024 we are hosting a fundraising event at Berowra Baptist Church.
