Last Monday Dave and I headed out on a mission to try to find the location of the Mt Macedon Sanatorium which is now long gone. If you know Mt Macedon it’s beautiful and well worth a visit. Thinking that finding the location would be straightforward, we were wrong .. the area has been taken over by the forest and very hard to find and all the information on the exact location vague. Even after Dave talking to a local who knows the area, pinpointing it will take a bit of searching.. a lot of the land in the area is privately owned now.
Built around 1899 for patients with tuberculosis , the sanatorium followed the belief that the crisp mountain air and the eucalyptus and pine trees would be beneficial for the asylum’s patients.
We spent a few hours looking and as the night fell we took a few photos and ran the audio but nothing exciting happened, except one photo which is interesting.. it was a warm night and very still and although we were fairly close to the location , what the camera picked up is a little strange .. this isn’t my breath as it was a very warm night , so we’ve left it in the , well that’s strange basket .. but let us know if you see anything in the photo , it’s the last photo.. oh and please disregard the date stamp I hadn’t set it so it’s wayyy off by a few years 🤣. It was an interesting night and it was nice to be up in the mountain and hopefully we will return if we find anymore information on its true location.

To kick off the new year Dave and I will be investigating a location that’s been on my bucket list for a while now .. This is location has a very otherworldly feel about it , the atmosphere very surreal! Once a sanatorium stood here for patients suffering with Tuberculosis.. Very excited!
