Advertise in the Maiden Gully Mail.

We’re preparing the second edition of the Maiden Gully Mail, following a very successful first release. Community response was strong, and the surveys provided valuable data on:

• Town Centre Precinct Survey — “Should the Town Centre become a modern community and sporting precinct”

• Telephone Service Questionnaire — results have been forwarded to Lisa Chesters and Gaelle Broad for review.

This upcoming edition will publish the results of both surveys and outline how the Maiden Gully Progress Association is using this evidence to advocate for upgraded community facilities.

Our walkers also noted a high number of tradie vans across Maiden Gully — a clear sign that many skilled tradespeople live and work locally. This is a great opportunity to promote your business directly to your neighbours and build your local customer base.

The Maiden Gully Mail is only possible through advertising support. The previous edition cost $2,700 to produce, so community backing is essential to keep this publication going.

Advertising Rates
• $400 — Full page • $200 — Half page • $100 — Quarter page

If you’d like to secure a spot in the next edition, now is the perfect time to get involved and be seen by the entire Maiden Gully community.

We’re repeating the Mobile Coverage & Emergency Alerts Survey to strengthen the evidence base for our ongoing advocacy with Federal, State and Council representatives'.

If you live, work, study, or run a business in Maiden Gully, your experience matters.

Residents continue to report systemic mobile coverage failures, including:

• Widespread poor or no coverage across residential streets, schools, shops and community facilities
• Frequent call dropouts and inability to make or receive calls indoors
• Unreliable emergency alerts, including late, missing or incorrect Vic Emergency warnings
• Direct impacts on CFA volunteer response times due to missed call-outs.

These issues affect public safety, business operations, education, and emergency response — and we need updated, community verified data to push for real action.

Please take the survey. Every response strengthens the case for urgent upgrades.

If you’ve experienced specific incidents — missed alerts, failed calls, dropouts, or safety impacts — please include details in the comments section of the survey.

Thank you for helping us build a safer, better connected Maiden Gully.

Hi Wilderhoods Attendees!

It's been a little while since we last communicated, and we hope you're all going well!

The core team established at the Wilderhoods workshops last year has been working in the background to get the ball rolling on what we can do with our chosen site: the powerline easement running through Maiden Gully.

We have met with Lu-Wei Spinks and park ranger Roh from the council and are super excited to invite you to join us in planting 20 – 30 aquatic sod trays into the dam along the powerline easement, between Edwards Rd and Glenelg Drive.

When: 9am on Tuesday May 5th
Where: https://maps.app.goo.gl/zpZFTBa5daeq64XB7
Please be sun safe, wear sturdy footwear and bring your gardening gloves. The sods will be thrown in from the edge of the dam, so you won’t need to get in the water.

Please feel free to forward this information on to anyone else who would like to attend - all community members are welcome!

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to myself or Lu-Wei:

TODAY: Great news for Maiden Gully!

The Victorian Government has confirmed funding in the 2026/27 Budget for the long-awaited upgrade of the Calder Highway and Maiden Gully Road intersection — a major safety and access priority for our growing community.

With Maiden Gully with an expected growth rate of 86.14% over the next 20 years, this upgrade is essential for supporting future housing, improving traffic flow, and making it safer for students and families to cross the highway and access local businesses.

Over the past years, the Maiden Gully Progress Association has been actively working with the City of Greater Bendigo and our local State member, Maree Edwards to help bring this project to fruition, and we’re pleased to see this investment now secured.

This is a big step forward for safety, growth, and liveability in Maiden Gully.

More updates to come as the project progresses.

Please complete the Telephone Service Questionnaire in the Maiden Gully Mail

The Maiden Gully Progress Association is currently collecting responses to the Telephone Service Questionnaire. The information gathered will form part of a formal report to be provided to our local Federal and State Parliamentarians, the City of Greater Bendigo, and the relevant service providers.

Early data shows that mobile service across Maiden Gully is significantly lacking. This report aims to push for urgently needed upgrades—particularly to ensure residents can reliably receive emergency community warnings.

Responses close this Friday. If you have not yet completed the survey, please take a few minutes to do so.

If you know an elderly resident who may struggle to complete the survey, please offer your assistance. Reliable phone service is an essential service, and their experiences are vital to this advocacy work.
