The Old Beechworth Gaol is a social enterprise with a mission to preserve and repurpose the site for future generations. A community consortium of 49 individuals, families and philanthropic organisations purchased the Old Beechworth Gaol in November 2016. The consortium is committed to transforming this highly valued heritage site into a thriving community space for the social and economic benefit

of the region. Using a social enterprise model, our mission is to build a thriving rural Australia by igniting entrepreneurship in young people and their communities and position north east Victoria as the southern hemisphere’s premier cycle tourism destination.

☕ We’re Hiring ☕

We’re looking for a casual team member to join the cafe in our brand new Visitor Reception Centre. We’re a proud social enterprise focused on community, connection and memorable visitor experiences.

This is a flexible role, around 2–3 mornings a week working with a professional and fun team, in a great atmosphere, with lots of visitors and definitely not your average cafe setting. The role is mainly midweek, from 9.30am to 12.30pm with the occasional weekend shift as backup for the team.

You’ll be making people feel welcome when they walk through the doors, taking orders, helping with food service, prep and clearing tables. Barista experience is a bonus but not essential. We’re much more interested in finding someone warm, reliable and great to work with.

If you like providing great service, being part of a team and want a casual role in a unique environment, we’d love to hear from you.

We have some new and elusive inmates at the Old Gaol 🪱. Yesterday the Indigo Regen team installed our very own Cool Seat. Inside the seat live our resident worms, who will be chomping through our food scraps to turn them into compost. Thanks team, we’re delighted to host a Cool Seat at the Gaol.
