As we celebrate National Volunteers Week ...a special thank you to all our Runaway Bay VIEW members, particularly those who have been or are now committee members and to others who host events or put up there hands to take on other jobs that need to be done. Your contribution is much appreciated. Xx

It’s National Volunteer Week (NVW) – Australia’s nationwide celebration of volunteering! 💜

For VIEW, this week is a time to say thank you to all our wonderful members for being part of our organisation and volunteering to support the work of The Smith Family.

VIEW is one of Australia’s largest and longest running women’s volunteer organisations. We have clubs across Australia, made up of like-minded women who volunteer their time to raise funds and awareness of The Smith Family while enriching the lives of others through friendships and social connection.

The theme of NVW this year is “Your Year to Volunteer”. This recognises everyone who gives their time, care and skills to support communities, while inviting more people to find a volunteer opportunity that feels right for them.

We are delighted that around 13,000 women across Australia have chosen to volunteer with VIEW!

If you are looking for a way to have fun, make friends and give back to your community while making a difference to children experiencing disadvantage, find out more about VIEW.

Make 2026 your year to volunteer...with VIEW!

Congratulations to Sue and her helpers for a very very successful Trivia Night last night. It was so much fun and at capacity with 115 people in the room! Exact figures are to come but we know that this event has raised more funds than any of our previous trivia nights. Thank you to all the members who participated and brought along friends and family. Sincere thanks also to Runaway Bay Junior Rugby League Football Club for their ongoing support providing us with the venue and the businesses that donated raffle prizes. The craft activity; creating a wedding dress from toilet paper alone was the highlight of the night. So much creativity and laughter!! There are many photos, but I have limited them here to members and those I know are FB friends. Please let me know there are any issues.

We had lots to celebrate last Tuesday at our May luncheon where we dressed in floral. Our guest speaker, Zone Councillor Di Stamp provided the VIEW national update, it was our 33rd birthday and Margaret and Carmel, received their member badges and welcome packs. However, the highlight was 4 of our members receiving their service pins; Chris, Sue and Anna for 10 years and Katherine for 30 years of service to VIEW. All 4 of these ladies have and continue to make a valuable contribution to our club. In addition, we distributed the National VIEW Newsletter and also asked members to complete our biannual satisfaction survey. Such a busy but important meeting!

On April 25, 1915, 111 years ago, Australian and New Zealand Army soldiers landed on the beaches at Gallipoli in Turkey, marking the start of the Allies' invasion. This 8-month long campaign saw thousands of Allies killed and wounded.

Today we commemorate and honour all Australians who have died or served in wars, conflicts or peacekeeping operations.

Thank you to our VIEW members who are representing VIEW and laying wreaths today as their communities mark this important day.

Lest We Forget.
