Rovers are a “brotherhood of open air and service.” And to develop individuals by expanding one's range of skills, fellowship, social, outdoor, and cultural activities. Mission
The goals of the Rover Section are:
1) To encourage the personal development of young adults through service and a wide range of activities.
2) To provide appealing activities for fun and fellowship.
3) To develop self-
reliant responsible citizens by encouraging
members in Scout training.
4) To give general service to the Scout Movement and to the
community.
5) To attract and retain young adults as members of the Scout
Movement. Q. “What is a Rover Unit?”
A. A group of Rovers that enjoy social activities, service, adventure and
the outdoors. A Rover Unit brings together members that enjoy each
others company and social interaction with an assortment of other
people. The aims and methods of a Rover Unit can be as wide and
varied as your imagination, as long as they fit within the Aims and
Principles of the Rover Section and Scouts Australia as a whole. Each
Unit has different styles and ranges of activities to suit its members. Description
Q. "Hold on, why are the 'Units' listed as 'Crews'?"
A. Up until a few years ago, that was the term for a collection of Rovers, so each group made their page with that in mind. Since then, a lot of terms have changed and updates made to Scouting in general, which is why "Rover Crews" are now called "Rover Units". Not every group has altered the name of their page, so the current names are listed 'as is' below. Q. “What the hell is a Rover?”
A. A male or female between the age of 17 & 25, dedicated to fun and
adventure while serving the community in the Scouting way.
