Ability Options

Ability Options We provide support in the home, community and workplace to help people of all abilities achieve their goals.

We are one of the longest running not-for-profit organisations in NSW. We provide increased opportunities for people to live the life they choose with the support that suits them best. These opportunities include, assistance to find employment, providing accommodation, respite and drop in living support, assisting people to access activities that interest them and linking people to their chosen co

mmunity, offering advice and support about services available, providing after school and vacation care activities for teenagers with disability and helping young people make the transition from school to work.

Today we headed down to the Jetty Foreshores to get up close and personal with some scaly creatures 🐍🦎 There was plenty of excitement and bravery from the crew!

Social groups like these are so much more than 'something to do.' They’re about building confidence, forming friendships, and being part of the community. Behind every outing is a skilled team working together to make this happen. We're planning transport, assessing risk and providing high-quality tailored supports so people with disability can connect in meaningful ways.

Thank you to Steve from Reptile World - Coffs Harbour for making this day one to remember. 🙏

To mark the start of National Reconciliation Week our colleagues and participants came together for a special event celebrating connection, culture, and community.

The gathering, guided by Kyle Waters, a Gomeroi Man from North West NSW Walhallow Mission, featured a traditional smoking ceremony, face painting, Aboriginal artefact and traditional symbol art activities.

As part of the event, we officially launched our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan. This new plan builds on the learning and relationships developed over recent years and confirms the future we want to create - one built on respect, understanding and opportunity.

Today was a chance to come together, reflect and continue important conversations about reconciliation and the role we all play in creating a more inclusive future.

Today marks the start of National Reconciliation Week – a time to reflect on our shared histories, cultures and the role we all play in reconciliation.
This year's theme, All In, is a call for everyone to take part – not just by learning and reflecting, but through real action each day.

For us, that means continuing to listen, learn and work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a way that is respectful and meaningful.

This week, we're also proud to launch our new Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) – a commitment to strengthening relationships, understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions.

Reconciliation is ongoing work, and we're committed to being all in.

🎯Bullseyes and big smiles when our Rec Trip crew hit the ranges at Sherwood Archery .

With expert tips from a national champ, there were plenty of laughs and a few surprises (there are some sharp shooters among us!)

Getting out, trying new things and sharing experiences together - that what these days are all about.

Who's keen for the next outing?

Another day, another chance to connect! Yesterday we had the pleasure of meeting locals and providers at the Port Macquarie Disability Expo, hosted by The Disability Events Community - The DEC

It was a great opportunity to have some meaningful conversations, share what we do at Ability Options, and build new connections across the community. Thanks to everyone who stopped by for a chat—we loved hearing your stories and talking about how we can support you.
