It's been a couple of weeks for 239ACU with our inaugural parade, the our support on ANZAC Day last weekend. This weekend we provided support at the 2026 Royal Bathurst Show. We stewarded in the Show Jump ring, recruited and conducted flag duty. Our last official job, to lower the National Flag at the close of the show. Some of the cadets may have convinced the Face painters to apply a unique cam pattern.
Next year we'll be back to help the show society.
You could be part of our program and join us.

The Cadets did 239ACU Bathurst great credit on their first ANZAC Day. A promising start for our unit supporting today's commemoration at the Dawn Service, the March and Main Service, the Boer War and Broken Blade memorials services. Well done everyone.

On Wednesday evening we held our first parade at our new home. It was an evening of firsts. Our first promotion of a freshly minted Cadet Lance Corporal Joshua Wotton, who received his slide from LTCOL Scott Ferguson CO of 1/19 RNSWR. We were supported by the Training Officer of our sister unit 252 ACU, LT(AAC) Peter Reid who also passed on the thoughts of their OC who couldn't be there.
We had a full program of training preparing for our first Community outing on ANZAC Day. We will be supporting the Bathurst RSL Sub Branch throughout the day.
We started using the facilities at the Showground and getting comfortable in our Orderly Room.
We have so many people to thank. From the National and Regional Commanders for encouraging and approving our aspiration to get the Australian Army Cadets program running in Bathurst. To the Brigade staff, 25 Battalion CO, all of 252ACU Orange (we will be eternally grateful for their ongoing help), Bathurst Community Transport Group, the Bathurst RSL Sub Branch, Bathurst RSL Club, and the Bathurst Showground Land Manager.
If you know of a young person or adult who may be interested in joining the program now's the time to get in touch or apply at www.armycadets.gov.au

The request to raise 239 Army Cadet Unit Bathurst was approved by Brig. David McCammon DSM and Bar on 30th March 2026. The unit was established the next day.
This Wednesday our Cadets will parade for the first time at our new home at the Bathurst Showgrounds.

The establishment of 239ACU at the Showgrounds continues a long tradition of military use of the site that commenced with the Bathurst Volunteer Rifles and continued with the Coo-ee March, the Bathurst Burrs and others.

STRONG LEADERSHIP STARTS WITH STRONG TEAMWORK

Great to see the new Regional Cadet Under Officers of Australian Army Cadets - New South Wales Brigade and Australian Army Cadets - Northern Territory Battalion, RCUO Krish Swami and RCUO Catrina Meldrum, coming together at Lone Pine Barracks, Singleton - sharing insights and ideas, and improving leadership development opportunities that makes a real difference to our cadets. Collaboration like this sets the standard. 🇦🇺
