Too often, the assumption is that technology is the solution to the productivity challenge in construction, according to structural engineer and SMD Consulting founder Salim Dalla. But that is only partly correct. Businesses risk missing the solution altogether if they immediately reach for technology to solve their productivity problems.

Located in the Perth Cultural Centre, the project is around three times bigger than its predecessor and features 6000 square metres of gallery spaces. Prior to redevelopment, the museum comprised four heritage buildings, which posed accessibility issues.

As part of the project, builder Multiplex carried out structural steel works to upgrade these buildings to meet seismic requirements.

“The challenge is no longer simply detecting microplastics," said Dr Kala Senathirajah. “Increasingly, it is about how institutions, regulators, industry and engineers respond under conditions of evolving evidence and uncertainty. Monitoring capability is advancing rapidly, and decision-making capability must evolve alongside it."
