Saturday 17th of October was an unusual parade day, namely being delayed due to other commitments and a timely visit of a historic steam engine at the Maryborough Railway Station . Drill was conducted in preparation for Remembrance Day and a lesson on camouflage and concealment in the trenches. Lunch was had at the station while awaiting the days highlight.

First formal parade including members of Australian Great War Association, of which we are a part this past Saturday. It consisted of drill with and without weapons, culminating with lunch at the the Maryborough Highland Society.

A couple members of the group had the opportunity to ride the magnificent 1920’s steam train for the City of Ballarat Ballarat heritage festival on the weekend.

I would like to acknowledge the magnificent work of steam rail Victoria for the great work they continue to do.

I am grateful for the support of members of the 8th battalion at the Maryborough Anzac Day services. It was a pleasure to support such a wonderful community and engage with numerous individuals who shared such lovely memories with us.

And of course I would like to acknowledge both service members past and present for their dedication to our country, thank you.
