What a great weekend was had by the members of our club who attended the Bivouac Junction Weekend away (21 in all). A lovely site camped right beside the Fanning R where it joins the Burdekin R. Some were brave enough to swim in the refreshing cool water of the Burdekin (or should I say a few). Many a tall tail was shared by all, at the nightly bonfires (Thanks to our wood collectors and fire bugs – Glenn, Mick, Graham and Andy). Thanks also to Andy’s mate, who leant Andy his vehicle after Andy’s ute blew up as he was leaving to come with our wood and a lot our gear.
A big thankyou goes out to Sally and Chris for all the hard work leading up to the event and ensuring that everyone was well-fed and had a great time. The games they organised on our Mexican night proved to be a lot of fun with one of the games having Gavin and Bob as our targets for Sombrero Toss. Of course there was NO CHEATING HAPPENING!!! Thanks Melissa also for the great 7 Layer Mexican dips and delicious Mojito Cheesecakes, and also the ladies who helped with the chopping, slicing and dicing for our Mexican night.
Kym and Gavin took out our little fishing comp for the weekend. It was surprising how many fish were caught - not monsters though!
Our Ladies all enjoyed the Mother’s Day breakfast. Thanks guys! What a sight to see all the men so busy cooking and serving (with their little napkins over their arm) and all the ladies making sure they had their champagne filled up in quick time! Have to put a shout out also to Glenn for his yummy pancakes.
Thanks also to Moira for getting up early and washing up (dishes from the events of the night’s before) before anyone woke. And to Richard for cooking brekky for those of us left on Monday morning before we decamped.
There are also a few tails which are untold!! You know who we are talking about!! Social weekends like this certainly bring out the comradeship we have in our great club. Thank you to all those who attended and helped to make this weekend such fun.
