“ What’s in Your Hand?” – The Story Behind JUDAH Helping HANDS

Years ago, I prayed that God would give me influence to lead young men and women. In that moment of prayer, I felt God ask me the same question He asked Moses in Exodus 4:2:

“What is that in your hand?”

I looked down.
It was a football.

And I felt God say,

“Throw it down — and I will use it for My glory.”

People often ask why we started a charity that uses football so heavily to engage our youth.
The answer is simple:
Football saved my life.
And it has saved many others like me.

We believe the building blocks of the game — discipline, teamwork, resilience, respect — are the same building blocks needed for life. Football is just the doorway. The real goal isn’t to produce pros — though that’s a welcome bonus.

The real goal is to prepare the 99% who won’t go pro to become fruitful, responsible, and empowered members of society — young people who are ready to lead, give back, and one day return to pay it forward.

JUDAH Helping HANDS (JHH) is about:
• Changing lives
• Building infrastructure
• Developing young people, coaches, and communities

Because in every child deprived of hope, in every young person swimming upstream like a salmon, we see:
Potential. Promise. Pillars of the future.

The roadmap may not be fully clear — but the vision is.
Look at the joy on the faces of the youth we work with, and then tell me again why you don’t see the value in partnering with JUDAH Helping HANDS.

I only know how to dream impossible dreams.
If I could do this on my own, then what would I need God for?

Mark Williams ….. the nation builder

Meeting Shaun Bartlett and Mark Williams during my visit to South Africa, through my brotherhood with Rafique, was one of the absolute highlights of the trip.

Sharing the vision and mission of Judah Helping Hands—and the dreams we carry for our children—left me almost without words.

Then hearing these two legends say, “Brother, we are proud of you. Our kids need more like you,” moved me deeply. Because I see myself in every child who’s been left behind, in every young person made to feel like hope isn’t for them.

We can’t ignore the truth:
Our children are marginalised.
Not by accident, but by design.
They’ve been invited into a card game rigged by governments that make the rules.

But you and I—those of us who’ve made it out—we hold the final cards:
• The Give Back card.
• The I Don’t Forget Where I Come From card.

Let’s play those cards now.
Let’s build something together—something that generations from now can look back on and say, “That was the turning point.”

Today we gonna break some bread quickly and thank God for the STRONGER TOGETHER 2025 edition

Acts 1:14 (NIV)
“They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.”

This verse is notable because it explicitly includes women among the early disciples, emphasizing their active role in the early church.

In a time when women were often overlooked in historical records, Luke (the author of Acts) makes a point to recognize their importance.

At JUDAH Helping HANDS nothing happens unless we mobilise the women

We don’t see the women because they too busy making things happen but I assure you , I don’t make a single move until the the women prayer warriors have gone before the lord .

Nothing happens unless the vision has been shared with the women and they give me the green light to open my mouth and start engaging the masses

We need to love our women , we need to empower our women , we need to equip our women and at all costs we need to protect our women

Sometimes, the walk is the gift.

At the tournament, over 1,000 breakfast meals were prepared and served so that every child could start their day with dignity, energy, and care.

Behind those meals were our girls, working like a team on a conveyor belt in the kitchen — not just preparing food, but learning one of life’s most powerful truths:

Because the walk isn’t just leading to the gift — it is the gift.

Honouring Our Legends

In a world moving faster by the day, it’s easy to overlook those who paved the way.

But at , we were reminded of a powerful truth:

Legends don’t retire — they refocus.

There is immense power in remembering, respecting, and involving our elders — not just to honour them, but to give them purpose by keeping them engaged in what they once excelled in.

Patrick Moodley and Uncle Welly are the perfect examples of this.

Over the weekend, they poured their wisdom, energy, and love into the tournament — identifying rising talent, nominating individual awards, encouraging players, and proudly presenting every accolade with heart.

They didn’t just show up — they showed why their presence still matters more than ever.

These men are more than mentors.
They are more than leaders.
They are the stuff that legends are made of. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

May we always honour our seniors, not only with words, but with space, responsibility, and reverence.
Because when we involve them, everyone rises.
