I have only just returned from the Glen Innes Celtic Festival, a big thanks to NEMAS for hosting (and feeding!!!) Rognvald’s Lith, NVG Jorth Gar and NVG Ringerike. In the week following I managed to catch up with my own group (Ringerike) for some training, shout out to my amazing friend Talisien B Wiser for keeping the home fires burning! Your strength of soul makes this group. Sadly I missed out on catching any NESSI classes, KEG training or NEMAS practice (work/life balance just refused me the time) but we will catch up next time…. Finally, had an absolute ball punching on with Matt James and James Siggee of the New England Renegades (who I can’t seem to tag for whatever reason), thank you for sharing your style with me, it was incredible fun!

Well done to all at NESSI who held their first tournament over the weekend, once again promoting medieval tourism in Armidale, with many participants travelling in from afar.

Thank you to everyone who entered High Guard 2026! It was a weekend filled with fantastic fencing and sportsmanship, and we couldn’t have done it without you all. Thanks also to our volunteers for all your hard work with set up and score/time keeping, and support.
We’ll be making posts for the overall winners tomorrow so stay tuned.

Another thing to celebrate from the weekend, while we were all having fun in the parade, members of NVG Jorth Gar (some of whom travelled down from Rockhampton) were out at the forest with NEMAS; working their guys out for the Easter Gathering.

For the second year in a row, The Knights of the Empire Germanica, The New England Renegades, The New England Medieval Arts Society, and The New Varangian Guard - Ringerike Garrison; marched together under our shared banner. This year we had two special guests with us, Conrad from RIFF and Michael from Rognvald’s Lith, both travelling 5 hours to engage with us other medieval enthusiasts.
