✨ A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our AGM on Saturday! ✨

We’re excited to announce that almost $70,000 in community grants has been awarded for 2025/26, supporting a range of fantastic local projects:

❤️ Marrar Woorn Food Share Pantry – $5,000 per year (for 3 years) to purchase food
❤️ Great Ocean Road Health – Gym Lab – $9,130 for equipment upgrades
❤️ Apollo Bay Community Garden – $5,000 for a new water tank
❤️Apollo Bay Medical Centre – $50,000 towards a Point of Care (POCUS) ultrasound machine
❤️ Apollo Bay Pony Club – $300 for a mounting block for junior riders

Our AGM is almost here! We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone and celebrating our successful grant recipients for the year.

The foundation supports local health initiatives and provides vital medical equipment for our community. Our Trustees manage an investment base built on generous donations and bequests, ensuring ongoing funding for health projects throughout the Apollo Bay district.

Join us at the AGM this Saturday and see how community support is making a lasting impact!

Andrew “Buck” Buchanan is a founding trustee of the Apollo Bay & District Health Foundation, a long-time Apollo Bay resident, and a local business owner.

Inspired by the idea that a small community could have its own discretionary pool of funds to support local health and wellbeing, Andrew played a key role in establishing the Foundation.

Andrew and his wife Beth moved to Apollo Bay from Eltham in the late 1980s. Alongside running their small business, Andrew has actively contributed to improving the local community through roles with the local council, the Coastal Committee of Management, Chamber of Commerce and representing the community on key strategic projects.

Passionate about outdoor activities and the natural environment, Andrew values the spirit of this small, diverse, and caring community - and is always encouraging others to enjoy and protect the great outdoors.

Kate joined the Board in early 2024, driven by a strong commitment to community and a passion for making a tangible difference through our Grants Program.

A long-time visitor to Apollo Bay for more than 20 years, Kate realised a long-held dream in 2021 when she purchased her own place in the area.

“I love the charm of Apollo Bay – the pristine environment and the spectacular meeting of mountains and sea. But it’s the small community of friends and colleagues that truly makes it special for me,” she says.

Kate brings deep expertise in health and community services to the Foundation. She is the Executive Officer of Deakin University’s Institute for Health Transformation and also serves on the Board of Meli, a leading community services organisation.

Joining the Apollo Bay & District Health Foundation is Kate’s way of staying connected and giving back to a community she has grown to love - supporting local health and wellbeing for generations to come.

📢 Grant Applications Now Open! The Foundation is inviting applications for our next round of grants from eligible not-for-profit organisations within our catchment area. To be considered, applicants must:

✅ Be a not-for-profit organisation

✅ Deliver a project located within the AB&DHF district*

✅ Align with the Foundation’s supported activities*

This time last week, our volunteers braved the chill to support a fantastic event and help raise funds for our local community!

Well done everyone who took part in the 2025 Great Ocean Road Running Festival. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️💪 What an incredible weekend!

🌟 A huge shoutout to the amazing volunteers who helped make the 2025 Great Ocean Road Running Festival such a success! 👏

Despite some chilly and wet weather, every runner and participant gave their all - including our very own board member Craig Buckingham who took on the challenge of the Pub to Pub Waiter's Race 🍽🏃‍♂️👏

We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year! 🙌
