2-day Introductory Cross-cultural Peacemaking Workshop
What an absolute privilege it was to spend two powerful days of learning, listening, yarning and coming together.
Firstly, a heartfelt thank you to Marcus Lacey for travelling to Mparntwe and sharing Mawul Rom Peacemaking education through a Yolŋu lens. Your generosity in sharing knowledge, culture and ways of peacemaking laid such an important foundation for these conversations.
A heartfelt thank you also to Brian Forrester and Andrew Lockyer for generously sharing Arrernte knowledges, history, culture and ways of peacemaking through an Arrernte lens, helping us better understand the experiences, strengths and histories that continue to shape this place and its people.
Thank you also to Paul Tolliday, Paddy Rheinberger and Catriona Elder for helping create and hold something really special through the first introducory Cross-Cultural Peacemaking Workshop (CC-PMW).
Both days offered something deeper than a workshop — a cultural immersion that laid the foundation for us to come together feeling connected, safe and open to learning from one another.
We shared honest conversations, knowledges of peacemaking, culture, history and the experiences that continue to shape Aboriginal peoples and communities today. We reflected on strength, resistance, healing, belonging and the lessons history still carries.
What unfolded felt deeply grounded in relationship, respect and culture.
This is only the beginning, but already it feels like something meaningful is growing.
Thank you for sharing so openly and helping create a space where we could all listen, learn and shape something together.
Strong Culture. Strong Relationships. Strong People. Strong Futures.
