Congratulations to our very own Margie Gleeson OAM on being awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in recognition of her outstanding service to the arts.

For more than 25 years, Margie has been a driving force behind Border Music Camp, helping thousands of young musicians discover their confidence, creativity and love of music. From her tireless work in student administration to her ongoing leadership on our committee, Margie has been at the heart of our camp community for a generation.

While many know Margie through Border Music Camp, her impact extends far beyond our organisation. As an educator, mentor, arts advocate, theatre supporter, university lecturer, community leader and champion of regional creativity, she has dedicated decades to ensuring that country children and communities have access to rich artistic opportunities.

Margie's belief that every young person deserves the chance to find their creative voice has shaped countless lives across the Border, Riverina and North East.

A recognition so richly deserved, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate Margie and all that she has contributed to Border Music Camp and the wider arts community.

We’re absolutely thrilled to share that Border Music Camp has been nominated for Community Group of the Year as part of the AlburyCity Albury Awards this year!

This recognition belongs to so many people: our incredible staff, members, committee, volunteers, students, tutors, families and supporters, past and present. The care, generosity and countless hours you all give are what make BMC what it is.

The timing of this nomination is especially meaningful, as we prepare for our 50th Border Music Camp this year. Half a century of music, learning, friendships and community. What a privilege to celebrate!

We also want to acknowledge the other outstanding nominees. Albury is full of remarkable community groups and individuals doing important, generous work, and it’s an honour to be alongside you.

If you’re free, we’d love to see you there on the day! Monday 26 January at the Noreuil Foreshore. Our good friends at Albury City Band are playing from 9.00am, and the awards ceremony is at 10.30am.

Thank you to everyone who has helped shape Border Music Camp over the years, this nomination is for all of you, passionate about music education and a bit of fun! Hooray!
