Fifty Border Music Camps.

As our outstanding Davis Symphony Orchestra (and our brand-new timpani) bought the house down on Saturday evening and another unforgettable week came to a close, the Border Music Camp crew found ourselves reflecting on just how extraordinary this community truly is.

For 50 camps, Border Music Camp has brought people together through a shared love of music. Generations of campers, tutors, conductors, volunteers, committee members, families and supporters have created something far greater than a music camp. It is a place where lifelong friendships begin, confidence grows, musicians young and old discover what they're capable of, and every person is welcomed into a community that feels like home.

This week, more than 215 musicians and 62 staff added their own chapter to that remarkable story. They challenged themselves, inspired one another, laughed, learned, performed, and reminded us all why Border Music Camp has remained so special for half a century.

To everyone who made our 50th Camp possible; our phenomenal Director, Deputy Director, conductors, tutors, composer-in-residence, accompanist, stage-managers, office manager, librarians, interns, camp parents, volunteers, committee, families, sponsors, supporters, and of course our incredible campers… thank you!

Your passion, generosity and belief in what Border Music Camp represents are the reason this organisation continues to thrive.

To those who joined us in celebrating 50 camps, whether at our concerts, alumni events, exhibition, or from afar, thank you for helping us honour the thousands of people who have been part of the Border Music Camp family since 1975.

The music may have finished for another year, but the memories we've made, and the connections we've strengthened, will stay with us for a lifetime.

Here's to the next chapter of the Border Music Camp story.

Some behind the scenes footage of our alumni event last Thursday, featuring so many former campers, staff and committee members, as well as interviews with our amazing Director & the composers of the absolutely brilliant ‘Sea of Stars’ which was performed by our alumni choir as the final item of our evening recitals.

This beautiful footage was captured by BMC alumnus Tara Chambers (camper + tutor). Thanks Tara, we are so lucky to have a wonderful memento of this special event!

A huge thank you to Justin Clancy MP and the NSW Department of Communities and Justice Community Building Partnership Grant for supporting Border Music Camp.

We are so excited that our region has a truly beautiful, professional-quality set of timpani. These instruments will be enjoyed by Border Music Camp and other local community ensembles for years to come, helping musicians create their very best performances.

These beauties will make their performance debut at tonight's concert. See you there, and get ready to hear our amazing students bring some incredible repertoire to life!

Visiting the Border Music Camp it’s inspiring to see so many talented musicians here for the week - well over 200 attending this year!

And with over one-third of the students local it’s such a great opportunity for young musicians like Alexander Sergi from Albury High School and Ynigo Alejandro Rambla from Catholic College Wodonga.

In its 50th year this is truly a generational institution, and securing funding for new timpani drums is helping to ensure that the Border Music Camp continues to thrive now and well into the future.
