Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting Stage 5 students from Wagga Wagga Christian College at Mates Gully TSR for an engaging Conservation Champions Field Day with thanks to NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust!
Students immersed themselves in hands-on learning, taking part in activities such as:
🌱 Vegetation surveys and native plant identification
🦋 Exploring pollinators and habitat features
🧪 Discussions around sustainable land management
🐾 Investigating biodiversity and the role of grazing landscapes in conservation
A real highlight of the day was the opportunity for students to connect with industry professionals. They spoke with team members from Local Land Services (LLS) and Bush Heritage Australia, gaining valuable insights into conservation careers—and even exploring potential work experience opportunities.
It was fantastic to see students so engaged, curious, and inspired to become the next generation of conservation champions! 👏🌏

Happy Birthday Sir David Attenborough 🎂

Sir David Attenborough celebrates his one hundredth birthday today. His career, spanning seven decades, has been transformative in the world of conservation and wildlife film-making. He continues to inspire current and future generations to take care of the natural world around them, a message that he highlighted this year in his most recent documentaries, Wild London and Secret Garden.

Last week, the Petaurus Education Group team had a wonderful visit to Narrandera Public School, working with students to explore practical ways to halve waste, recycle, and reuse in everyday life.
A big thank you to Narrandera Shire Council, RAMJO, and Halve Waste for their valuable support in making this initiative possible. Together, we’re empowering young people to care for their environment and create positive change 💚

✨ Cultural Learning in Action at Burrumbuttock Public School! ✨
Yesterday, the Petaurus Education Group spent a wonderful day with the students at Burrumbuttock Public School, joined by Uncle David Dunn and Martin “Jnr” White for a series of hands‑on cultural workshops.
Students enjoyed:
🎨 Storytime with Uncle David, exploring rich Wiradjuri stories and then created their own cultural art piece inspired by his teachings.
🪃 Cultural tools and artefacts with Jnr, learning about traditional items, their uses, and the deep cultural knowledge behind them.
✏️ A supporting literacy activity, helping students summarise and reflect on their learning.
These workshops help strengthen cultural awareness, connect students to Indigenous histories and perspectives, and support key Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures cross-curriculum priorities.
A huge thank you to the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) for funding these valuable learning experiences and helping us bring cultural education into regional schools. 💛🖤❤️
