The Carevan in Albury Wodonga has become the ultimate symbol of a caring community united in the fight against hunger and poverty.

* Carevan serves an estimate of 300 meals per week
* Provides Care Packs (personal hygiene necessities, dental care products,)
* Provides beanies, scarves & blankets
* Established the Carevan Book Library
* Orthodontics Grants Program
* Dental Health Program
* Supports Midnight Basketball Competition
* Established Kids Cooking and Caring Program (KCC)
* Provides work experience for disabled youth
* Breaks down the barriers for the disadvantaged who would normally be excluded from society

Thank you, Sandra Moon and ABC News Goulburn Murray! Carevan Foundation loved joining you on the show, with Rebecca O’Brien, Creative Director of Custom Styled Uniforms, to talk about the Ruffy Swag Program.

At Beechworth Correctional Centre, prisoners work with mentors to make swags for people sleeping rough. Hundreds have already been handed out, giving warmth and dignity to the people who receive them and skills and purpose to the people who make them.

Without new funding, the program is at risk of closing. We’re looking for a sponsor to help keep it going:

💚 $250 = one swag
💚 $10,000 = 40 swags, 4 months
💚 $30,000 = 120 swags, 12 months

It started with hot meals in an Albury car park. 🚐🍲

In 2010, local orthodontist Dr John Brabant founded The Carevan Foundation with one simple belief - it's easier to care than to turn away.

Today, Carevan serves more than 20,000 free meals a year. It also brings people together and provides preventive oral healthcare education for individuals and families facing homelessness, hardship, isolation or disadvantage across Albury–Wodonga and regional NSW and Victoria.

That same spirit drives our Cooking and Caring Community Kitchen, and why we’re filming our pitch for the Border Trust: Community Foundation Albury Wodonga Region Give500 grant, in hope to secure funding to continue supporting those in need and help build a stronger, more connected community for the future.

You guys rock. Freestylers are so great at getting things done. With busy lives doing lotsa things for lotsa causes, we so appreciate them fitting us into the schedule and getting stuff done!
We’ve already handed out one of these bags on request to a homeless person who found it super helpful.

What started as a simple enquiry about medium service gloves turned into an incredibly generous donation of food service trays, gloves and whiteboard markers for our The Carevan Foundation School Lunch Program.

Our wonderful volunteers are so grateful for your generosity and support, and, most importantly, for helping us provide nutritious meals to Albury/Wodonga’s hungry primary school children.💚
