🔥 Binalup Aboriginal Corporation – NRM Community Stewardship Grant Success! 🔥

We are proud to share that Binalup Aboriginal Corporation has been successful in the 2025 NRM Community Stewardship Grant for our cultural burning initiative, Binalup Karl Kaartdijin.

Building on the strong relationship already formed with Firesticks Alliance and renowned cultural fire practitioner Victor Steffensen, this project will deepen the important work we have already begun together on Country.

With Victor’s recent visit to our country laying the foundations, this partnership will see him continue to walk alongside our Senior Noongar Elders and Binalup and Tambellup Rangers, supporting the revitalisation, practice, and sharing of traditional Noongar fire knowledge through culturally guided burns.

Binalup Karl Kaartdijin will strengthen cultural leadership, build practical regional capacity, and bring people together in a shared responsibility to care for Country the right way.

This achievement represents a powerful step forward for our community, our Elders, our Rangers, and our future generations.

🔥 BIG NEWS FOR BINALUP ABORIGINAL CORPORATION 🔥

We are proud to share that Binalup Aboriginal Corporation has been successful in securing funding through the NIAA Indigenous Rangers Program – Grant Round 2!

This significant achievement enables us to establish a new NIAA-funded Male Ranger Team in Albany, further strengthening our existing ARP Male Ranger Team in Albany and complementing our Women’s Ranger Team in Tambellup, which was supported through NIAA Round 1.

This is a huge step forward for our community, more jobs, more training, more opportunities, and more of our Noongar people out on Country caring for land, culture, and setting the pathway for future generations.

From Albany to Tambellup, and throughout the Wagyl Kaip region our Rangers are leading the way in cultural land management, environmental care, and strengthening our Noongar knowledge systems.
This new funding means we can continue building a strong cultural workforce and create real partnerships and pathways for our people into meaningful, long-term employment.

Thank you to NIAA for recognising our vision and supporting our growth.

And a massive congratulations to our team, Elders, and community who continue to guide and drive our work.

Binalup Aboriginal Corporation is growing — stronger, prouder, and ready for the next chapter.

🖤💛❤️

Last week, the Binalup Cultural Rangers and the Tambellup Cultural Rangers had the pleasure of hosting the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions in Tambellup, WA, for a week-long flora and fauna bioblitz.

This event was not just about exploring the natural beauty of the region but also about fostering a meaningful partnership between Aboriginal rangers and DBCA. It provided a unique opportunity to share knowledge and experiences, contributing significantly to flora and fauna education, throughout the week, participants engaged in fauna handling, cross-cultural learnings and overcame personal challenges, resulting in a truly rewarding experience for everyone involved.

Together, the Rangers and DBCA team members worked hard to capture and survey the native flora and wildlife inhabiting the bush. This collaborative effort is a crucial step towards the establishment of a future flora and wildlife sanctuary in Tambellup, WA, ensuring the preservation and protection of the region's biodiversity.

A heartfelt well done to all the participants for their dedication and hard work in making this bioblitz a success. The knowledge exchanged and the connections made during this week will have a lasting impact on our conservation efforts.
