Our team had a fantastic day at the Westbury’s IGA Golf Fundraiser, joining local businesses and community champions who came together to support children, young people and families across Townsville.
Again, a huge thank you to Adam and Maree Westbury from Westbury’s IGA Mundingburra, along with the IGA Board and Metcash, who once again made the event possible.

2026 IGA Golf Day
A huge thank you to Adam and Maree from Westbury's Mundingburra IGA for hosting the 14th Annual IGA Golf Day. The weather didn't disappoint with a perfect day at Tropics Golf Course. Thank you to our gold sponsors BM Webb Industrial Property, ADITS and Jess Whaites - Whaites + Co. Along with Aon who sponsored the Hole in One. Thank you to the IGA State Board and Metcash for their generosity and ongoing support. A big thank you also to the volunteers from Queensland Country Bank who come along each year and help out.

There were lots of laughs, some great outfits, prizes and an incredible $30,000 raised for the important work that we do supporting children, families and individual in the Townsville and surrounding area.

Althea's Community Hub hosted a BBQ Breakfast in Dean Park in collaboration with the Hahn Townsville and Surrounding Areas (housing and homelessness network) to help raise awareness of Homelessness Week 2026.

We were delighted to see so many community members and service providers come together to support this important week and help raise awareness of homelessness in our community.
A huge thank you to Mission Australia for generously providing their coffee van and offering free coffees to everyone who attended.

We'd also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Ignatius Park College Year 12 students, who generously volunteered their time to cook and serve the BBQ breakfast. Your support and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated.

Thank you also to the other service providers who attended and shared information about the supports they offer, including Australian Red Cross, QuIHN, and Feros Care. Your collaboration and commitment to supporting our community are invaluable.
Finally, thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the morning such a success. By working together, we can continue to raise awareness of homelessness and strengthen the support available to those in Townsville community.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to the Year 12 students at Southern Cross Catholic College, Annandale for donating 50 toiletry packs to Althea's Community Hub.

With this week marking Homelessness Week, these thoughtful donations have arrived at the perfect time as we continue supporting people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in our community.

The students recently participated in a retreat where they explored the idea that "service is more than words." Their generous action is a wonderful example of putting that message into practice and making a real difference in the lives of others.

It is inspiring to see young people embracing compassion, kindness, and community responsibility, helping to create a more connected and supported community for everyone.

Join the Townsville HaHN Committee as we raise awareness about Homelessness Week 2026 at our Annual Homelessness BBQ Breakfast.

This year's Homelessness Week theme is "Homelessness Week: Action Now."

On your way to work, stop by for a free bacon and egg roll and grab a coffee from the coffee van, kindly provided by Mission Australia.

This is a great opportunity to connect with the local organisations working tirelessly to support people experiencing homelessness in the Townsville community. Come along, show your support, and help raise awareness during Homelessness Week.

Althea Projects welcomed almost 200 guests to its Winter Wonderland Gala at Rydges Southbank.

The elegant evening, sponsored by local business Jess Whaites - Whaites + Co brought together community members, supporters and local leaders to learn more about the vital work Althea Projects delivers across Townsville, which is supporting vulnerable children, young people, families and individuals through foster and kinship care, homelessness services, emergency care and family support programs.

More than a fundraising event, the Gala was an opportunity to showcase the life-changing impact of Althea's services including Althea's Community Hub, which supports people experiencing homelessness, the Foster and Kinship Care Program, and Wee Care, the organisation's long-standing emergency care and family support service for children and families.

Guests heard inspiring stories of hope, resilience and connection, highlighting how every person has the ability to make a meaningful difference in the life of another. To learn more about the work of Althea Projects go to altheaprojects.org.au
