Helping Hands Mission Op Shops Helping Hands runs 3 large Op Shops in Melbourne, but we do so much more than that! Remember when an op shop was a treasure trove? Saturday: 10am - 2pm.

Our stores fund the multiple community programs that we run to help support Victorian families in need, including our Community Pantry and Assisted Volunteer Program. We invite you to visit Helping Hands Mission Op Shops to discover the treasures that await you! Our focus is on providing affordable clothing, books, household items and furniture to the local community, so that we can continue to su

pport those in need through emergency aid, donated goods and other support services. Store locations:

We recently had Emily, a textile artist, visit our Airport West store, where she picked up some items from our Rummage Room with the intention to give them new life by using her sewing skills and creative vision to redesign them into whole new pieces!

These stunning up-cycled pieces have been donated back to us, and we’re so excited to be able to share them with you tomorrow!

Emily documented her whole process, so each piece comes with a QR code you can scan to see how it was made!! (or you can go check out her Instagram page right now to watch everything come together 👀)

Those of you who visit our Airport West Op Shop might have met Aidan - one of our youngest team members! You can often find him hanging clothes in the shop, and using his passion for all things fashion to keep our Boutique looking incredible ✨

When he isn’t at Helping Hands, Aidan does amazing work as a textile artist! This piece, titled Feels Like Home, was designed and handmade by him for Valley Youth’s Intergenerational Art Project ‘Our Past, Our Future: Stories of the Valley’, where it won the Avenue Productions Choice Award!

Inspired by his Grandfather, who has lived in Airport West for 65 years, Aidan brought together fabrics he picked up from Gaye’s and Carol’s Vintage Shop to create appliqué elements to tell the story of his Grandfather’s journey 🩵

Aidan’s beautiful gown is currently on display in the Our Past, Our Future: Stories of the Valley exhibit at Westfield Airport West. You can find it, alongside artwork by the other participants, out the front of Woolworths until August 30th (and we really think you should go check it out!)

If you would like to further support Aidan’s incredible work, you can vote for him now in the People’s Choice Competition via the Westfield ANZ app. All you have to do is login to the Westfield app and select Airport West as your preferred store, then go the the “Our Past, Our Future” section and follow the prompts to select Aidan’s name to win 🙌

In case you missed it… we’re having a Trivia Night fundraiser!!

It’ll be a fun, feel-good night with lots of laughs and friendly competition. And it’s not just trivia! We’ve also planned a silent auction, raffles, and a few interactive games (with some great prizes to be won along the way!)

Some of you already guessed it… the amazing donation that had our team excited this week was a vintage Strawberry Shortcake collection!!
