It’s with a sad heart, that we share it’s time to let go of our beloved kombi.
All of the sale info is at the bottom of this post, it would help us if you could share too.
Benji, the Kindness Kombi has been a part of our family for around 6 years & we are so grateful for all the amazing people who have supported our dream, to make the world a kinder place by connecting strangers & talking about important topics.
In the coming weeks, the Kombi will be polished up one last time & taken for one last drive as a family. 🥲
The Kindness Kombi has played a special role in our lives & has introduced us to the most amazing people, many who are now life long friends.
The Kombi helped us find “our people” in our community & has inspired us to start a family of our own.
11 months ago, the birth of our son Ziggy had us fall head over heels in love, we are the proudest parents & we are loving every moment of raising him, he is such a little ray of sunshine.
We used to use the kombi to try & see as many strangers smile as possible when we’d drive past playing music & now, our baby is just as excited to see us, simply because we are lucky enough to be his parents.
Now it’s time for someone else to enjoy the spirit of the kombi.
It has been incredibly hard to mentally prepare to part with the kombi, but we know it will be loved by its new owner.
The Kombi will be ready for viewing by potential buyers in the coming weeks. It will be ready to camp & travel with the new owner this Christmas break.

We have been made offers over the years many, many times, ranging up to $60,000 & at the time, it was like someone was offering to buy our baby. 😂
But now, it is important to us that Benji goes to a good home, with people who are going to make all the amazing memories that we did, just like the owners before us & so on
About “Benji” The Kindness Kombi
The Kombi is a
1972 Volkswagen Kombi
Sopru Camper - which is an Adelaide Brand
The motor & all bolt ons, including the clutch were completely rebuilt with in the last 7000 miles.
The brakes & steering have been completely overhauled.
The kitchen has been completely rebuilt, retaining the original rock & roll bed. The front seats were completely reupholstered 5 years ago.
Benji does have a small amount of rust, but nothing urgent.
The rust has been treated, stabilised & hasn’t grown in the time we have owned it. Most of it is in the roof, which we were quoted $5000 to completely cut & repair. We are factoring this into the purchase price, but there is absolutely no problem with driving it & leaving it to fix later.
Benji has been worked on to make him a reliable & honest van. We have owned many cars & this is the one that we always end up using when the others break down. Speaking of which, even with trips up the coast & to Melbourne & back, Benji has never broken down.
All the work has always been done by specialist mechanics.
This Kombi is strong & is ready to live its life for another 50+ years.
Inspection will include viewing of receipts of all work completed to the van.
