Research opportunity for people living with chronic pain

Researchers from UNSW and Neura - Neuroscience Research Australia's Centre for Pain IMPACT are recruiting Australian adults for PECCS — a study exploring how chronic pain may be associated with everyday thinking abilities, stress, emotions, personality and mental wellbeing.

The online study takes approximately 45–60 minutes and includes an anonymous survey and short thinking-skills tasks. Participants can also enter a draw to win one of several $50 gift cards.

If you live in Australia and are 18 or over, you may be eligible to participate — whether or not you experience chronic pain.

The heartbreaking story of this young mother’s death is a stark reminder that urinary symptoms should never be ignored, dismissed or minimised.

While most urinary tract infections can be treated effectively, delayed recognition, inadequate assessment or failure to respond to worsening symptoms can, in rare cases, lead to serious complications such as sepsis.

Our thoughts are with this young woman’s family and loved ones, and we are grateful they shared her story. We hope their willingness to speak out will raise awareness and help prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Gia Lam gave birth to her son and was dead three days later. A coronial inquest found her death was preventable. Her family are now breaking their silence.

Recurrent urinary tract infections may be common, but many people feel embarrassed, misunderstood, or not taken seriously. We hear these sentiments every day.

Researchers at the Leiden University Center for Infectious Diseases are conducting a study to better understand the impact of UTIs on a global scale, and you can help by joining the study!

Who can participate?

This study is looking for participants of any gender who:

🔸Are based anywhere in the world

🔸Are 18 years or older

🔸Have experienced at least one UTI in their adulthood



👩🏽‍💻Participation in the study requires completion of an online questionnaire, which will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
