Back in the office this Monday morning, and we are still reflecting on last week. 💚

Last week, our RAISE Parent Inclusion Program won the Thriving Sector Award at the 2026 South Australian Child Protection and Family Support Awards, and we are still taking it in.

RAISE makes sure parents, including parents with disability, can get information and support in a way that works for them. It’s shaped every step of the way by people with lived experience, and this award belongs to everyone who has been part of that journey.

A huge thank you again to our REIN & RAISE lived experience advisory group, the families we work with, our team and Board, and the Julia Farr Fund for believing in this program from the very beginning.

We are starting this week with full hearts and plenty of motivation to keep building on this work.

Mental Health Month is here, and this year's theme is Find Your Way to Wellbeing.

To the parents and families we walk alongside: we know how much you carry. Whether you're parenting with disability, caring for a child with disability, or finding your way through the child protection system, looking after your own mental health can feel like one more thing on a very long list. Rest can feel out of reach.

Wellbeing doesn't look the same for everyone. Your way might be a walk around the block, a cuppa with someone you trust, an early night, or saying no to something that drains you. It's okay to step back and honour your limits. Self-care doesn't need to come with guilt.

When lived experience is missing from the conversation, services can miss what families actually need.

Parents and carers understand barriers, systems and services in ways that cannot always be captured through data, policy or professional experience alone. REIN creates a pathway for those insights to reach the people designing services, conducting research and making decisions.

Support Before System Practitioner Training — two dates open.
A full day for practitioners working with families under pressure: understanding family stress and early indicators of concern, engaging in supportive conversations, supporting families through active efforts and practical pathways, and child safety and mandatory reporting responsibilities.
Bring a real family or case you're working with — much of the day is spent applying the material to actual practice. You'll receive a certificate of attendance for your professional learning record.

Last week was a big week for REIN 💚

Members of the Reily Experience Insight Network (REIN) completed consultation across two important pieces of work that directly affect parents and families navigating South Australia's child protection system:

🔹 DCP's Statement of Commitment to Parents and Families
🔹 DCP's Draft Complaint and Feedback Management Guideline

Behind both projects was a simple but important principle:
If a system is being designed for families, families should have a meaningful opportunity to help shape it.

REIN creates a structured and supported way for organisations to hear directly from people with lived experience — and to turn those insights into practical feedback that can inform policy, practice, service design and system improvement.

For confidentiality reasons, we won't share individual member responses or the detail of our consultation reports. What we can share is that REIN members generously contributed their time, experience and expertise to consider how these parts of the child protection system may be experienced by parents and families in practice.

Their contribution helps move lived experience beyond simply being heard — towards being considered in the design and improvement of systems.

Have a project that would benefit from lived-experience input?
REIN can support organisations with consultation, surveys, facilitated workshops, co-design, policy and resource review, sense-checking proposed changes, and translating lived-experience feedback into clear themes and recommendations.

We welcome opportunities to work with government, community organisations, researchers and other partners who want to meaningfully include parent and family perspectives in their work.

You don't have to be an expert to contribute to REIN. You already have expertise: your lived experience.

Reily provides a safe, respectful and supported way for people to contribute their experiences to meaningful projects. You can participate in ways that suit you, including individual conversations, group consultations, surveys, document reviews and co-design activities.

Participants are paid for their time, and you choose which opportunities you want to be involved in.
