A mother’s care is often seen in the smallest daily choices.

What to cook.

What to buy.

What is safe enough to serve.

What will nourish the people she loves.

But food safety should never rest on mothers alone.

It should be supported by strong systems, sound science, shared responsibility, and harmonized standards that protect families everywhere.

This Mother’s Day, the Global Harmonization Initiative celebrates mothers and mother figures across the world, and continues to stand for safer, more trusted food systems for every home.

Happy Mother’s Day.

GHI is overflowing with pride and joy as we share truly extraordinary news.

Today, March 25, at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York City, the World Food Prize Foundation announced that Huub Lelieveld—GHI Past President, founding member, and a guiding light in our community—has been named the 2026 World Food Prize Laureate.

This honour is far more than an award. It is a tribute to a lifetime of devotion, curiosity, and courage. Huub has spent decades pushing the boundaries of what is possible in global food systems, championing food safety, advancing scientific excellence, and working tirelessly to ensure that safe, nutritious food is within reach for all. Through his leadership within GHI, he has shown us what it means to lead with heart: to serve with humility, to innovate with purpose, and to believe deeply in a healthier, more resilient world.

Huub’s recognition is also a celebration of the power of collaboration, shared vision, and unwavering commitment to meaningful change. His work reminds us that progress is never the result of one person alone, but of communities that dare to imagine better—and then work together to make it real.

Please join us in congratulating Huub on this profoundly deserved honour. His achievement is an inspiration to all of us.

Today we celebrate the vision, leadership, and resilience of women around the world whose contributions strengthen our societies, our communities, and our shared future. International Women’s Day - 8 March - is a moment to honour the women who challenge boundaries, inspire progress, and open pathways for the next generation.

International Women’s Day is a moment to celebrate the strength, vision, and leadership of women everywhere - women who challenge boundaries, elevate science, and shape a more equitable world. Today, we honour the women whose dedication continues to transform global food systems and protect public health.

At the Global Harmonization Initiative, we proudly recognize the women whose expertise and dedication are shaping safer, fairer, and more sustainable food systems. Their work is essential to advancing global food safety, regulatory alignment, scientific integrity, and consumer protection.

We also celebrate the remarkable women who lead GHI, our Working Groups, and our global network of Ambassadors. While we could not include every photo, we honour all of them. Their tireless efforts - educating, advocating, coordinating, and building bridges across borders - strengthen our global community and help make harmonization a shared, achievable reality.

Their leadership reminds us that inclusive, science‑based collaboration is not only possible - it is powerful!

Every part of the GHI logo tells a story:

The globe: global alignment and shared responsibility

The people: collaboration across sectors and regions

The checkmark: trust, credibility, and harmonized systems

The grain: food systems, sustainability, and resilience

Together, they represent what Global Harmonization Initiative works toward every day:

Science-based cooperation that enables safe, sustainable global progress.

When systems align, innovation accelerates responsibly.

This is the new Global Harmonization Initiative.

Same mission. Clearer voice.

Our new logo is more than design.

It is a symbol of what GHI makes possible:

• Connecting regions

• Aligning systems

• Advancing science-based cooperation

• Strengthening global food systems

At its centre is a globe — because harmonization has no borders.

Surrounded by people — because alignment works only through partnership.

Shaped by trust and forward movement — because progress must be credible.

Rooted in food systems and growth — because sustainability must be practical.

This is a declaration of purpose.
