Founded in 1992, Women in Nuclear (WiN) is a global non-profit organization of women working profess

WiN has currently around 35.000 members, located in 145 countries, regions and international organizations. VISION:
·To be a forum for raising awareness of the benefits of nuclear and radiation applications, with special emphasis on the sustainability of the environment and on the protection of the public and the quality of life.
·To promote gender equality and diversity.
·To contribute to innovative solutions

WiN membership is free of charge to any individual who supports our vision. We also encourage you to join the local Chapter of your choice.

Call to Action for the Community! ⚛️👩‍🔬

UNESCO and Data-Pop Alliance (DPA) are conducting a vital global study on women scientists in crisis and emergency contexts. We invite our international network to make their voices heard and share their valuable perspectives.

Whether you are a scientist who has experienced these conditions or represent an organization supporting women in STEM, your input will directly help shape UNESCO’s recommendations to strengthen protection, resilience, and participation worldwide.

Building One Nuclear Future: Highlights from the 2nd WiN Global Regional Event!🇨🇭✨

More than 120 participants representing 25 nationalities and 17 WiN Europe chapters came together in Baden, Switzerland, for the 2nd WiN Global Regional Event. Hosted by in collaboration with and , the three-day gathering centered around the theme: “One Network. One Nuclear Future.”

Key highlights from the event

🔹 Day 1 – Future Perspectives: Energy security, innovation, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), and regulatory frameworks, featuring insights from IAEA, ETH Zurich, Axpo, and regional leaders.

🔹 Day 2 – Network & Collaboration: Interactive workshops on cross-border knowledge sharing, strategic communication, mentoring via MentorCity, and building the WiN Europe Roadmap.

🔹 Day 3 – Technical Visits: First-hand technical tours to Beznau & Gösgen NPPs, PSI Hot Laboratory, ZWILAG, and the Mont Terri Rock Laboratory.

Every chapter possesses valuable experience to share ⚛️ From technical expertise to mentoring, the connections made in Baden lay a strong foundation for continued collaboration across our European and global network.

Women in Nuclear Global at IYNC 2026 in Avignon 🇫🇷

This week, Eva Gyane and Florencia Renteria represented at International Youth Nuclear Congress (IYNC) 2026, contributing their expertise and perspectives across mentoring, leadership, nuclear safeguards, workforce development, and the future of nuclear energy ⚛️

✨ Eva Gyane, Technical Leader and Group of Expertise Leader at WiN Global, participated in the Plenary Session “The World That Demands Change,” contributing to the discussion on the economic, climate, and financial forces transforming global energy systems, including the needs of emerging economies. Eva also joined the Nuclear Safeguards session alongside Kristine Madden from the IAEA, sharing professional experiences, lessons learned, and insights on innovations, best practices, and the evolution of safeguards, particularly for newcomer countries.

✨ Florencia Renteria del Toro, PhD, WiN Innovation Lead, contributed to the launch of the IYNC 2026 Mentoring Program, engaging with young professionals on mentorship practices, knowledge management, effective communication, and leadership. She also joined the Plenary Session “The Weight of the Chain: What It Really Takes,” bringing Argentina's experience in developing and sustaining nuclear capabilities to the international conversation, with a focus on financing, national supply chains, skilled workforce development, and broader participation.

We are thrilled to officially welcome our two newest chapters: WiN Armenia and WiN Belgium!

During a dedicated welcome meeting led by President Melina Belinco, we connected with chapter leaders to align goals and open doors for collaborative initiatives, joint projects, and knowledge sharing.

🇦🇲 WiN Armenia was represented by Mohammed Amasha and Hasmik Harutyunyan.

🇧🇪 WiN Belgium was represented by Cristina Hilario and Valérie Bellens.

A special mention to our Chapter Support team—led by Gabryele Moreira alongside team member Nicéa Barreto—who are dedicated to guiding new initiatives, answering questions, and supporting the setup and growth of national chapters.

⚛️ RECAP: What an incredible week we experienced at !

What a remarkable week for — a time of milestones, partnerships, and collective action in support of a more inclusive and connected nuclear sector.

Under the leadership of our President, Melina Belinco, and with the dedicated coordination of our Vice President, Amal Elrefaei, WiN Global reaffirmed its commitment to advancing inclusion, cooperation, mentorship, and leadership in the nuclear field.

🇦🇺 The week opened with the inspiring side event “Cultivating Tomorrow’s Leaders: Diversity, Mentorship, and Inclusive Practices in Nuclear,” held in collaboration with Australia, with distinguished speakers Ian David Grainge Biggs, Ambassador Kennedy O. Reyes Lazo, Minister H.E. Dr. Zenator Agyemang Rawlings, Sama Bilbao y Leon, Shaun Jenkinson, Aleshia Duncan, Dominique Mouillot, and Veronica Garea.

🤝 We also marked important agreements with KINGS, ICTP: International Centre for Theoretical Physics, WNTI, and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), strengthening cooperation, knowledge exchange, and opportunities for the next generation of nuclear professionals. Sincere thanks to Peter Frobel and Neva Badalamente for their support.

☢️ Together with World Institute for Nuclear Security, we were proud to host the High-Level Breakfast “Leading Together: Building Collective Impact, Shaping the Future,” with thanks to Viviana Espinosa Moreno, IAEA Deputy Directors General Margaret Doane and Najat Mokhtar, and all contributors.

⭐ Another highlight was the inauguration of the WiN Global booth by IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi under the theme: “Leadership for Nuclear’s Next Chapter: Diverse Expertise. Strong Partnerships. Collective Impact.” We were honoured to mark this moment with Minister Adolph Mkenda, Ambassador Matilda Aku Alomatu Osei-Agyeman, Ambassador Ivan Gospodinov, and many valued partners.
