American Red Cross - American Samoa The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies.

After everything this community has been through, this is what hope sounds like.

“Every time somebody walks here with a red shirt, they’re giving us hope.”

In the middle of everything, people are showing up for each other, reminding neighbors they’re not alone and that there is still a way forward.

“We feel that we’re not alone.”

If you or someone you know in the CNMI needs help, please call the Red Cross Northern Mariana Islands Chapter at 670-234-3459. Those in Guam should call the Guam Chapter at 671-472-6217.

As we celebrate Military Appreciation Month, we pause to lift up the heroes who’ve worn the uniform and stepped up for others, often at great personal sacrifice 🇺🇸🪖.

Across Guam, the CNMI, Hawaiʻi and American Samoa, military service is part of our communities, our families and our culture of care.

Today, we’re honored to recognize Emily Reed, a retired U.S. Air Force nurse whose service continues long after her time on active duty🎖️💙. While stationed at Travis Air Force Base in the 1960s, Emily experienced the compassion of the Red Cross during a time of personal loss - a moment that stayed with her for life.

Years later, living in Hawaiʻi and seeing disasters impact island communities, she chose to give back by becoming a monthly donor and including the Red Cross in her estate plans ❤️

Emily's legacy is a powerful reminder that service doesn’t stop with retirement — it evolves, inspires and carries forward to the next generation.

As Volunteer Appreciation Month comes to a close, we’re reliving one of our favorite moments—the Volunteer Heroes Awards 🌟.

This year’s celebration brought our Red Cross community together across the region, with the award ceremony held on Oʻahu and watch parties hosted throughout the Big Island, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands 🌺.

Together, we honored volunteers who stood out in 2025 for their dedication, the time they so generously gave and the big hearts they bring to our mission every day.

Their compassion and commitment power nearly 90% of our lifesaving work, and we are deeply grateful for each of them.

This Volunteer Recognition Week, April 19–25, we celebrate the unstoppable spirit of Red Cross volunteers across the Pacific Islands 💪❤️🌺

When storms threaten, uncertainty rises or neighbors need support, these volunteers step forward with determination, compassion and courage. Across our islands, they bring energy and hope into challenging moments, offering steady guidance and reminding communities that they are seen, valued and supported 🌈

Their service does not end when conditions improve. Every day of the year, volunteers share knowledge, teach skills that save lives, stand with military families and respond whenever help is needed 🚑

We are proud of the dedication that pulses through the Pacific Islands Region. To every volunteer who gives their time, talent and heart: thank you. Your impact is powerful and lasting. 🌺

✨ The American Samoa Red Cross recently hosted the 2026 Volunteer Recognition event, bringing together volunteers, youth and community partners to celebrate service and the humanitarian spirit that strengthens our islands. ❤️

We were honored to welcome Honorary CVL Board Member Vaito’a Hans Langkilde and CVL Board Director Ierome. Vaito’a shared reflections on the chapter’s history and achievements, highlighting the impact of dedicated volunteer leadership 🌟

The heart of the evening was the recognition of local Red Cross heroes Vaelua and Jolly. Vaelua’s moving story of her volunteer journey reminded everyone why the Red Cross mission matters and the difference frontline service makes in our community.

We were also inspired by the Manumalo Baptist Academy Red Cross Club ❤️, whose advisor encouraged students to embrace volunteering as a lifelong commitment.

Community and government partners, including Chief Procurement Officer Fred Ledoux joined in support, emphasizing the importance of strong community partnerships.

The event closed with warm fellowship, honoring today's volunteers, who inspire tomorrow’s volunteers 🌈

We’re incredibly proud to share that the Honorable P**aʻaliʻi Nikolao P**a, Governor of American Samoa, officially proclaimed March as Red Cross Month. ❤️ An honor that reflects the heart, strength and compassion of the volunteers who serve across the territory.

This proclamation highlights the neighbors who show up day after day to offer comfort, deliver relief and support families during life’s toughest moments 🚑✨. Their commitment to caring for one another represents the very best of American Samoa, and we’re grateful for every act of kindness they bring to our communities.

We’re proud to have this meaningful proclamation in Gagana Samoa and English, a celebration of culture, service and the volunteers who continue to uplift our islands. This month, we honor their dedication and invite everyone to join us in recognizing the people who carry our mission forward. ❤️🤝
